Helen Mirren's performance as Queen Elizabeth II in The Queen was a class on both physical and emotional transformation. She paid such minute attention to detail that it made her almost unrecognizable as she mimicked the Queen's distinct mannerisms, her posture, and so on. She did capture the character of the monarch-the restraint yet steadiness-when things were getting turbulent after Princess Diana's death.
