Steve Carell's transformation into the loud, boisterous Bobby Riggs in Battle of the Sexes was both physically and dramatically remarkable. Wearing a wig and prosthetics, he had an uncanny resemblance to Riggs to the point that it became surreal. His work brought forth humor, though intertwined with darker, vulnerable moments to add an extra dimension to the complex character that Riggs was. The look itself coupled with Carell's taking on Riggs's self-confidence and subsequent collapse will have a lasting effect on anyone who sees it.
