15) Rooney Mara in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo
Rooney Mara's breakthrough as Lisbeth Salander in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo earned her an Oscar nomination but not much of a paycheque. She took less than Daniel Craig-a global icon before this endeavour-through James Bond. Yet Mara was universally lauded for her performance, and her career thrust forward by this film. The pay gap was just another reflection of how lesser-known actors, even those playing lead roles, receive significantly lower pay than their better-established co-stars.
