The movie is about her struggles as a nuclear whistle-blower and a labor union activist who investigates the faults at the Kerr-McGee plutonium plant. Directed by Mike Nichols, the movie received positive reviews, and while Streep and Cher were nominated, Russell did not get an Oscar nod.
