Phil's personality is brimming with optimism. He generally believes that every person is good and tries to meet them without skepticism. He has unwavering faith that Luke is a genius, he's constantly giving Haley second chances and supports Alex without putting any pressure on her. Even though his father-in-law – Jay, has on occasion been rude towards him, he still tries his best to impress him. Be it friends, his kid's boyfriends, or someone else, he is always trusting towards them and often goes out of his way to help them.
