In this movie, Dan Dunne who is a teacher is struggling with his cocaine addiction. The movie shows how drug addiction can erode people’s close relationships as it eats away at people's capability to connect with others. Half Nelson depicts how people reach out to drugs as a desperate measure to escape from the struggles of the real world however eventually ending up struggling more from it.
