4. Madelyn Stillwell’s Death
Antony Starr's take on Homelander's icy, calculated murder of Madelyn Stillwell in the season finale of The Boys Season 1 is a dark brilliance. It is stunning to see how much control Starr exerts over the character's emotions as Homelander kills Stillwell, the only person who could keep him grounded. It is not the act itself but the chilling detachment and twisted sense of betrayal Homelander feels that makes this moment so powerful. Starr's performance presents a villain so violent that he can do anything calculatedly and without emotion, leaving the viewers disturbed.
