With no prior experience of playing the piano, Egerton underwent intensive lessons to perform live versions of John Elton's iconic songs. His dedication to mastering the guitar and adjust his vocals to resemble Elton added an extra levels of mettle to Egerton's portrayal, particularly so in the critical musical moments. Egerton's live performances in the film were highly appreciated by fans.
