Jennifer Garner went back to her roots in action as she played Riley North, a woman who becomes an avenging vigilante from a personal loss. Directed by Pierre Morel, the gritty revenge tale has relentless pacing. Garner is impressive in transformation and raw emotion and proves that a versatile actress cannot be denied this role. The hard-hitting and intense action shots of street chases and other brutal hand-to-hand combat showcased Riley's strong will. Though divisive among critics, Peppermint resonated with audiences craving justice-driven stories.
