Dr. Abraham Erskine’s death in Captain America: The First Avenger was both sudden and emotional. He was shot and killed by a Hydra agent shortly after transforming Steve Rogers into Captain America. Erskine’s death was devastating because he was the only person who fully believed in Steve’s potential before he became a super-soldier. He was more than a scientist—he was a mentor who saw strength in Steve’s character rather than his physical abilities. His murder forced Steve to act immediately and showed that heroism required courage, not just power. Erskine’s sacrifice gave Steve the motivation to embrace his new role and protect others.
