Loki’s death in Avengers: Infinity War was one of the most shocking scenes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Thanos strangled him to death in front of Thor after Loki attempted to outsmart the Mad Titan. Loki offered the Tesseract in exchange for Thor’s life, but tried to stab Thanos in a final act of defiance. His death was devastating because he had spent years shifting between villain and anti-hero, earning redemption through his bond with Thor. Fans had seen him survive countless situations, so his brutal death felt final and unexpected. It set the tone for the rest of the movie and showed how unstoppable Thanos was.
