The deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne in Batman Begins were the defining moments that shaped Bruce Wayne’s life. They were shot in front of Bruce during a mugging outside a theater and he watched both of them die helplessly. This tragedy broke Bruce and left him with guilt and anger that would later drive his decision to fight crime as Batman. Their deaths felt devastating because they were shown as loving parents who tried to shield Bruce from the dangers of the world. Losing them pushed Bruce to face his fears and dedicate himself to making sure no one else suffered the same kind of loss.
