River Phoenix passed away outside The Viper Room in Hollywood on October 31, 1993, from an overdose of drugs. The autopsy proved that he had several drugs inside his body, which included cocaine and morphine. Phoenix was working on the drama Dark Blood at the time of death, and he was still under production for nearly two decades. It was completed after years of doubts and was finally given to the audience in 2012 as a poignant glimpse into Phoenix's immense talent and his unfinished legacy.
