Movie quotes, just like the scripts and characters, often get imbibed in the memories of the audience. Quoting iconic lines of their favorite characters often brings joy and togetherness among fans.
However, sometimes we tend to get confused, and remember movie quotes wrongly. This creates the Mandela Effect.
The Mandela Effect occurs when people wrongly remember historical events, facts, or — in this case — movie quotes. Popular paranormal researcher Fiona Broome coined the term the Mandela Effect in 2009. Broome wrongly recalled that the former South African President, Nelson Mandela, had passed away in prison in the 1980s. However, he was still alive at the time, and passed away in 2013.
She later discovered out that there were many people who thought that Mandela died in prison in the '80s. That's when she coined the term the Mandela Effect.
In this article, we have listed 10 movie quotes that were altered by the Mandela Effect.
10) "Take my strong hand!"

This is among the most popular quotes from Scary Movie 2, which is often misremembered. In a scene when Dwight Hartman, played by David Cross, falls out of the window, the butler of Hell House, Hanson ( Chris Elliott), reaches to save him with his malformed hand and then says this line.
Many people remember it to be the above-written line. However, Hanson actually says:
“ Take my hand!”
9) "A man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do"

This is another iconic movie quote, from the 1953 Western film, Hondo. The film starred John Wayne as Hondo Lane.
During his travels, Hondo meets a homesteader named Angie and her son. He tries to take them away from the land due to the war with the Apaches. However, they refuse. Lane tries to protect the mother and the son from the war.
This famous quote from the film is often misquoted, as the actual line said by Hondo Lane is:
“A man oughta do what he thinks is best.”
8) "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?"

Another famously misquoted movie quote is from the iconic Disney film, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
People often misremember the Evil Queen’s line in the way it is mentioned above. The interesting thing is, the wrong quote has been existing in the realm of pop culture for so long that many movies and shows have actually incorporated it!
The actual movie quote is:
"Magic mirror on the wall, who is the fairest one of all?”
7) "I see white people!"

Scary Movie, released in 2000, is a parody of many movies but mainly Scream (1996) and I Know What You Did Last Summer. The above-mentioned dialogue was supposed to be a joke on the movie The Sixth Sense, where Haley Joel Osment’s Cole Sear says the line:
“I see dead people.”
The dialogue in Scary Movie was said by Marlon Wayans’s Shorty, and the actual dialogue is the same as Cole Sear’s quote.
However, many people remember it to be: “I see white people.”
6) “Play it again, Sam"

Casablanca is an iconic movie with many popular and memorable movie quotes. One of its most iconic quotes is also among the most misquoted ones in film history.
In a pivotal scene, Ingrid Bergman’s Ilsa Lund tells Sam, the piano player, to play Rick’s ( Humphrey Bogart) and her special song, As Time Goes By. She actually says:
"Play it, Sam."
5) "Stay away from her, you b*tch"

Sigourney Weaver’s Aliens is one of the iconic horror movies of all time.
Many people miserememeber this quote by Weaver’s character Ellen Ripley, although it is regarded as one of the most memorable movie quotes from the film.
However, the actual dialogue by Ripley is:
“Get away from her, you b*tch."
4) "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates"

The Oscar-winning movie is iconic in many senses, from its cast and characters to storyline and quotes.
One of the most popular lines in the film is the dialogue about the box of chocolates.
However, even if it is an iconic line, it is often misquoted, as many think Tom Hanks’s Forrest Gump says: "Mama always said life is like a box of chocolates."
The actual line is:
"Mama always said life was like a box of chocolates."
3) "I'm king of the world!"

James Cameron’s Oscar-winning hit, Titanic, gave us one of the most tragic love stories, starring Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio.
As the Titanic begins its journey, Jack ( Leonardo DiCaprio) stands on the bow of the ship with his best friend, Fabrizio De Rossi, played by Danny Nucci, and utters this line. They both appear excited for the journey as Nucci's Rossi quips that he could even see the Statue of Liberty from there.
However, it is misquoted, and the actual line is:
"I'm the king of the world!"
2) "Luke, I am your father"
This is one of the most wrongly recalled movie quotes. In Star Wars: Episode V — The Empire Strikes Back, as Luke and Darth Vader fight, Vader tells Luke how, with their combined powers, they could bring order to the galaxy.
He tells him that he would help Luke and also train him to control his force, but Luke declines the offer.
People remember Vader saying the above lines; however, his actual line was:
"No, I am your father."
1) "Run, you fools!"
In Peter Jackson’s movie The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring, the fellowship gets attacked by Orcs in the Mines of Moria. As they fend them off, The Balrog attacks them but is cast away by Gandalf. The Balrog then takes Gandalf with him, and they fall into the darkness of Moria. Gandalf utters this line before falling.
However, it is one of the misremembered movie quotes. Gandalf actually says:
"Fly, you fools!"
