He later opens up about his troubled relationship with his father to Rogers, who advises him to forgive his father. After Clarence sees flashbacks of George’s life: how he helped his brother from drowning, how he stopped a pharmacist from poisoning his customer, and how he revitalized his family business, changing many lives.

To convince him not to attempt s*icide, Clarence shows George an alternate reality where he wasn’t born. In that reality, all of the things that George did don’t happen: his brother dies by drowning, the pharmacist is jailed for killing a patient, and their family business is ruined, devastating so many other lives. George realizes his mistake and goes back to face his failure but is saved by his friends and family.

The film depicts the five emotions—sadness, anger, disgust, fear, and joy—in Riley Anderson’s mind after she relocated to San Francisco due to her father’s job. It perfectly shows the apprehensions and fears of a child who has to change and adapt to a new environment and form new relationships.
