It was revealed at the end of season one that Billy Butcher’s wife, Becca, who was supposed to be dead, was actually alive. Not only that, she was raising Homelander’s son, Ryan Butcher, who also has the same superpowers as his father.

The plot twist and big revelation had a significant impact on the show and on Homelander as well, who, in a psychotic rage, melted Madelyn Stillwell's face and killed her.


2) Omni-Man’s real identity

The animated series Invincible is one of the most popular adult animated superhero series. Helmed by Robert Kirkman, the show unveiled one of the greatest plot twists by revealing that Mark Grayson, aka Invincible’s father, Omni-Man, might not be the best superhero that he thinks him to be.

Another great supervillain plot twist in comic book history is the revelation of Agatha being behind everything wrong happening in Wanda’s life. Agatha initially appears as one of Wanda's neighbors in Westview.

Later, in one of the excellently executed twists in the series, it is revealed that Agatha is not just a nosy neighbor but also a powerful witch who is actually responsible for manipulating and orchestrating events to absorb Wanda’s powers.


4) The Vulture’s identity reveal

One of the biggest twists in Spider-Man: Homecoming is the identity of the Vulture. After having a crush on his classmate, Liz Allan, for a long time, Peter finally asks her to be his date to the homecoming dance, which she accepts. As he goes to pick her up, he finds out that Liz’s father, Adrian Toomes, is the Vulture, the supervillain.

The Fullmetal Alchemist character, Shou Tucker, is one of the most complicated villains. He is known for his gruesome experiments to create chimeras. One of the most heartbreaking plot twists is when he uses his own daughter, Nina, and their dog, Alexander, to create a chimera. By using Nina, he creates a talking chimera, a very unique result.

6) Ares’s true identity

In another shocking plot twist in comic book history, Ares’s true identity is revealed in Wonder Woman. It is revealed that Sir Patrick Morgan, a member of the Imperial War Cabinet who speaks about peace for all of humanity, is actually the God of War, Ares.

In the front, he was putting up a play about being an ally to humanity and seeking peace for them while he was planning and plotting behind everybody's back for the destruction of humanity and manipulating the events of the World War.


7) The governor’s attack on the prison

The governor is one of the most hated villains among the TWD fans. However, he also brought many twists and challenges to Rick Grimes’s group that added layers to the storyline and also helped in the character growth of many.

One of the best twists was his second attack on the prison that resulted in the destruction of so many lives and their home. After searching for many months, the group doesn’t hear anything about the governor. However, he comes back with new people and a tank to attack the prison.

In the comic book, the governor’s attack is a full surprise, but in the TV show, we get to see how he managed to survive and gather people to attack the prison.


8) Ozymandias’s destructive plans

Zack Snyder’s Watchmen introduces the character of Ozymandias from the comic book series of the same name. He also adapted one of the biggest plot twists of the series by revealing the destructive plan of Ozymandias. In the movie, his plan is to incorporate a horrific event that would result in the killing of millions of people, which would create havoc and fear and prevent a nuclear war.

To do this, he organizes a plan to create small explosions imitating Dr. Manhattan’s energy signature so that the blame would be put on him.

In Guardians of the Galaxy, Ego initially appears to be a good character as he reveals that he is Peter’s father, making him half-celestial. But the big revelation comes when he reveals that he was the one who caused his mother to develop brain cancer, as he thought she was distracting him from his grand mission of ‘expansion.’

This plot twist was significant in Peter’s life and is also one of the best twists in comic book history.
