What really happened between Stefan and Abigail on Days of our Lives?

Days of our Lives has resurrected Abigail—or at least that is what her loved ones seem to think. The woman calling herself Abigail appears to be an imposter and con woman, but a soapy twist could mean she is Abby, after all.

Salemites believe Abigail is back with amnesia after plastic surgery, so they have been giving this woman a crash course on Abigail's life, hoping she'll remember.

Days of our Lives's "Abigail" has an affair with Stefan

"Abigail" now knows all about Abigail's trysts with the DiMera men she was not married to, including an encounter with Stefan that wasn't consensual. Gabi offered "Abby" a brief rundown on how that happened, but Gabi left out a few details.

In 2018, Abigail began displaying some odd behaviors, but Chad didn't think anything of it at first. Chad had also just discovered he had another long-lost half-brother, Stefan, who had taken up residence in the DiMera mansion. The offspring of Stefano DiMera and Vivian Alamain took an immediate liking to Abigail, but she also confounded him.

At times, Abigail seemed to loathe him. At other times, she was extremely friendly—maybe a little too friendly. Stefan eventually figured out that Abigail seemed to have another personality. This other personality would make advances toward Stefan, and one night, he couldn't resist.

Stefan had sex with Abigail while she was in the control of an alter personality and couldn't consent to the act. After Abigail realized what was happening to her, she found herself pregnant and had a paternity puzzle on her hands. Gabi, who resented Abigail for taking Chad from her, fiddled with the DNA test so Stefan would look like the father of Abigail's unborn child.

After Charlotte was born, Abigail and Chad learned the truth of the little girl's paternity, leaving Stefan crushed.

How did Abigail's personality split?

When Abigail realized she had dissociative identity disorder, she dug deep to figure out how it had happened. By then, she had two alternate personalities, Gabigail (Gabby) and Dr. Laura. Gabigail was another version of Gabi, someone Abigail had been secretly envious of, while Dr. Laura was a version of her psychiatrist grandmother, Laura Horton.

Abigail finally remembered that she and Chad's brother Andre DiMera had gotten into an argument one night over Andre's machinations with DiMera Enterprises. When Andre angrily grabbed Abigail, she quickly picked up the urn allegedly containing Tony DiMera's ashes and conked Andre over the head, killing him. The trauma and guilt over what she had done created Abby's alters.

Abigail eventually worked with Laura to integrate her personalities as she tried to put her one night with Stefan behind her forever.
