Welcome to the Days of our Lives Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:

What happened on Days of our Lives

So, Ava Vitali is really gone, and we don't understand why — or what the point of her romance with Brady was. Ava has been a complicated character from the start, with lots of shades of grey. She was once a villainess who did awful things but seemed to change over the last few years. She'd established herself as a confidante for Sophia, a restauranteur, and a woman willing to live in a room above a pub when she was used to the lap of luxury. Her relationship with Brady barely got off the ground before she broke things off, but we expected a reunion down the line, as DAYS had spent months building them up. The show didn't even bother to wait to see if fans liked them before writing Ava off. Plus, Ava departed in such an innocuous way. Yes, she is a suspect in EJ DiMera's shooting, but she won't be around when this mystery truly gets off the ground. Instead, she announced she was moving to Hong Kong sheer out of the blue before dumping a gun in a trash can. And...that was it. No fanfare and no point to any story she has been involved in since last year. We know DAYS is starting anew in a few weeks with a new head writer's work set to debut, but the abrupt and ho-hum exit of a vital character who didn't seem on her way out is an odd way to begin a new Salem chapter.
