Peter Reckell: Beyond Salem could be "just the beginning" of his Days of our Lives return

As Beyond Salem wraps its second season, Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) shares he's "looking forward to coming back" for what could be "just the beginning of an amazing adventure."

The reviews are in, and Days of our Lives fans agree that the second season of the NBC soap's spinoff Beyond Salem was everything that Bo and Hope fans could have asked for. The pair's portrayers, Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso, returned to give the legendary supercouple one more beautiful chapter, which included not only a heavenly reunion but also a cliffhanger that teased the possibility of Bo's resurrection!

In the conclusion of the five-episode series, classic villain Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson) failed to kill Hope but succeeded in her quest to collect three prisms needed to cure her frozen father's brain tumor. But rather than Stefano DiMera stepping out of the cryogenic chamber, it was Bo!

As Soap Central reported a couple of weeks before Beyond Salem dropped its second season, Reckell revealed that his future with the soap depended on the popularity of the Peacock special and fan reaction to the material that played out during the five episodes.

"NBC and Peacock want to see what the reaction is, if it's worth it to them. And, they've got to gauge how important Bo and Hope are to the show," he shared at the time. "So, I think there's a lot of stuff still up in the air for the people who write the shows, etc. And so, we're just going to take it one day at a time."

Judging from social media reaction to Beyond Salem, Bo and Hope are extremely important to DAYS fans, and fortunately, Reckell confirmed to TV Guide that he has already had discussions with the powers that be about filming more material for Bo.

"Albert [Alarr, DAYS' co-executive producer] and I have talked about my doing more," he shared with the publication. "I'm looking forward to coming back."

Reckell also took to Twitter following the conclusion of Beyond Salem and teased that yes, there is a very big chance that fans will see his beloved alter ego come back from the grave in some form or another.

"Thanks 2 everybody who joined us for Beyond Salem 2! We had so much fun preparing this for you and we're happy you were able to come along for the ride!" he shared. "With any luck, this is just the beginning of an amazing adventure."

It's currently unclear if DAYS will eventually bring Bo back to the network version of the show or if viewers will have to wait for a possible season three of Beyond Salem to see where the cliffhanger will lead. It's also unclear if Bo will be alone, or if Hope will be included in whatever lies ahead.

When TV Guide asked Alfonso about a return to the soap, she wasn't quite as definitive as her co-star. She teased, "I don't believe I'll be returning to DAYS, but I didn't think I'd be doing Beyond Salem."

No matter what the future holds, Reckell is grateful to have been given the opportunity to play such a big part in season two of Beyond Salem. "I love reading all the comments," he shares. "There is so much history."

What did you think of season two of Beyond Salem? How do you feel about the possibility of Bo Brady being alive?
