The family adventure film Dakota has cast Patrick Muldoon (ex-Austin Reed, Days of our Lives) as a sheriff keen to take advantage of a small-town farming clan.

Days of our Lives star Patrick Muldoon (ex-Austin Reed) is heading to Italy this month to film an action-adventure movie called Dakota.

The family-friendly film stars Abbie Cornish as Kate, a widow who lost her husband in the war in Afghanistan and is struggling to maintain her small-town farm with her daughter (Lola Sultan). "Dakota" is the name of a combat dog that belonged to Kate's husband, and the story involves a promise by his friend and fellow sergeant to bring Dakota home to his family's farm.

Muldoon will play the local sheriff, who is keen to take advantage of the family. Meanwhile, William Baldwin has signed on to play a former U.S. Marine.

Muldoon shared on Instagram: "I'm excited for DAKOTA too @lolasultanofficial !! 💕 Cant wait to get to 🇮🇹 and begin this very special movie 🎥 "Dakota" with this incredible cast - grazie"

Though he hasn't been involved with DAYS for quite some time, Muldoon is keeping super busy with other projects. As Soap Central recently reported, he'll be starring alongside General Hospital star Maurice Benard (Sonny Corinthos) in the real-life gangster story The Legitimate Wiseguy, which also features Harvey Keitel, Emile Hirsch, and Ruby Rose.

Muldoon also recently appeared in Timecrafters: The Treasure of Pirate's Cove with Denise Richards (Shauna Fulton, The Bold and the Beautiful) and The Comeback Trail, the latter of which he executive produced and starred in alongside Robert De Niro, Tommy Lee Jones, and Morgan Freeman.
