Matthew Ashford comments on possible DAYS return

A slew of fan favorites have returned for Days of our Lives' 50th anniversary, but will Matthew Ashford (Jack Deveraux) be one of them? The actor weighs in.

Days of our Lives' Salem is chock-full of fan favorite characters these days, but there's one familiar face missing from the canvas: Jack Deveraux. But will Jennifer's (Melissa Reeves) hubby be joining the slew of actors who have returned for the NBC soap's 50th anniversary?

Matthew Ashford spoke with Soap Opera Digest and revealed in their latest issue that he hasn't been asked back yet, but he's definitely open to making a return. "I've had [my managers and agents] checking in and that's kind of the way it goes," he said. "You have to keep knocking on the door every now and then and say, 'What's up?' It gives them time."

Of course, having Jack return may prove to be difficult, considering he's supposedly dead (but he's been presumed dead a few times before, too). But that hasn't stopped fans from crying for a blast from the past. "It's been kind of wonderful," the actor says of the viewer support. "I've been watching from the sidelines and I'm aware of it and it's encouraging and I appreciate it."

Ashford has played the role of Abigail (Kate Mansi) and J.J.'s (Casey Moss) dad on-again, off-again since 1987.

Are you surprised that DAYS hasn't thought of a way to include Ashford's Jack on the canvas for the show's anniversary? Would you like to see Jack return from the dead?
