Alison Sweeney confirms DAYS 50th anniversary return

Another of Salem's most-loved residents will be back for the show's milestone event.

After months of speculation, it's finally been confirmed that Days of our Lives' longtime star Alison Sweeney (Sami Brady) is on her way back to Salem.

The actress took to Instagram to announce the news, which she did with a photo of her posing with a DAYS script. "Guess what?! I get to be a part of celebrating #days50!!" she wrote. "So thrilled!!!"

At this time, there's no word of exactly when Sweeney -- who unfortunately lost her bid to win her first ever Emmy award this past weekend -- will appear on the canvas, other than her appearance tying in to the show's 50th anniversary, which officially happens in November.

Sweeney joined the cast of DAYS in January 1993 and played Sami until her exit in October of 2014. As fans may recall, the character took off to Hollywood for a movie deal.

Other cast members returning for the 50th anniversary celebration include Peter Reckell (Bo Brady) and Stephen Nichols (Steve "Patch" Johnson).
