Patrika Darbo returns to Days of our Lives with a surprise newcomer

News that Patrika Darbo would be returning to DAYS as Nancy Wesley was confirmed in September, but Nancy won't be alone when she returns to Salem. She is bringing her younger daughter, Joy Wesley, with her.

Fans have not seen Joy since she was a little girl, but now she is all grown up with newcomer AlexAnn Hopkins in the role, according to Soap Opera Digest. Hopkins' previous acting credits include Criminal Minds and Chicago PD, per IMDb.

Joy was born in 2003 when her sister, Chloe Lane, needed a bone marrow transplant. Craig and Nancy conceived a child to save their adult daughter, but the characters left town with Joy in 2005.

When we last saw Nancy

Darbo made some brief appearances over the last few years while also recurring as Sally's grandmother, Shirley Spectra, on The Bold and the Beautiful and The Young and the Restless. In 2022, Darbo returned to DAYS for an extended stay when Nancy found herself suddenly single.

Nancy's husband, Craig, asked for a divorce because he had found someone else. Nancy was later shocked to learn Craig was gay and in love with a man. He nearly married Leo Stark before realizing that Leo was only conning him for his money. However, Craig had finally admitted he was gay, so he and Nancy went their separate ways after decades of marriage.

Nancy soon fell for Clyde Weston and nearly married him, but, like Craig, she learned she was being conned. After discovering that Clyde had also killed Abigail DiMera in cold blood, Nancy ended that ill-fated relationship and prepared to move back to New York. Before she left, Nancy ran into her old frenemy Mike Horton in Horton Town Square. Mike and Nancy struck up a friendship and decided to see where that would lead them when they both returned to New York.

When will we see Nancy again?

Nancy and Joy are both set to return to the Salem scene on October 22. Is Nancy still involved with Mike? Is Joy a college student or a singer like her sister? And, most importantly, will Nadia Bjorlin's Chloe be far behind? That would certainly pique Brady's interest!
