In today’s DAYS recap, Sarah and Xander grappled with her diagnosis. Brady feared the worst, while Jada found a new lead. Chanel and Alex received job offers from Johnny and Abe.
DAYS Recap Wednesday
At the hospital, Kayla checked in with Maggie, who had spent the night at the hospital. Maggie revealed that an evaluation had confirmed Sarah had no feeling below her waist. Kayla was hopeful that with drug treatments, they could reduce inflammation and yield positive results.
In Sarah’s hospital room, Xander grew impatient as he and Sarah awaited the latest test results. Sarah calmed him down and assured him that all she needed at that moment was him. Although she was grateful to have him there with her, Sarah believed Xander should go home and check on Victoria. Xander initially balked at leaving, but Sarah convinced him to go.

Later, Maggie visited with Sarah, and Sarah admitted that she had wanted Xander to take some time away from the hospital. Sarah talked about adjusting to the potential “new reality,” and Maggie promised her daughter that Sarah would have all the support she could ask for. Sarah was glad that the support system included Fiona. Maggie praised the comfort and support Sarah had received from her colleagues, as well.
Sarah opened up about how she had seen many patients, including Maggie, with injuries similar to hers. She grew emotional and vowed that she would one day walk again “on my own two feet.” She also counted her blessings and vowed that even if she did not make a full recovery, she would not let the hit-and-run driver stop her from living a full and happy life. Sarah also expressed her pride in being a doctor and confided how confusing it felt, since she had become the patient.
At Sarah and Xander’s apartment, Fiona watched over Victoria. She expressed to the child her regret about what she had done to Victoria’s mother. Fiona bemoaned the fallout if Xander ever discovered the truth. She assured herself that if anyone found out Brady’s car had been involved, they could not implicate her as the driver. Fiona flashed back to having pulled a sleeping Brady into the driver’s seat.
Just as Fiona mentioned Victoria keeping her secret, Xander opened the door and asked, “What secret?” Fiona claimed that she had been planning to deliver a picture of Victoria inside a locket to Sarah, and Xander was touched by the gesture. Xander updated his mother about Sarah’s condition and confided some of his fears. A guilt-stricken Fiona pledged her support. Xander thanked her and left with Victoria to see Sarah.
Back at the hospital, Sarah cried to Maggie about not being able to see her daughter. At that moment, Xander entered the room with Victoria in a stroller. Sarah sobbed happily and thanked Xander for knowing exactly what she had needed. Sarah soon grew tired, and Maggie offered to take Victoria home after Xander informed Sarah that Victoria could visit at any time.
Once alone, Sarah and Xander affirmed their love and offered each other comfort. Kayla arrived and announced that she had Sarah’s test results, as the couple looked on in trepidation. Kayla informed Xander and Sarah that the test results had indicated a spinal cord problem. Kayla explained to Xander that Sarah had suffered a stroke in her spinal cord and that the damage inflicted might be irreversible. As Xander embraced her, a tearful Sarah added that she might never walk again.
At John and Marlena’s place, Brady brooded over an article about Sarah’s accident. He recalled his conversation with Fiona about how he had gotten home the night of the accident. Brady fielded a call from Kristen, who apparently alerted him to her suspicions that Brady had been involved in Sarah’s accident. Brady lashed out at Kristen for her insinuations and hung up.
Later, Brady examined his car and noticed scratches in the paint. He remembered the sound of tires screeching, then exclaimed, “My God, no!” After he returned upstairs, Brady called Fiona and demanded they meet in person.
Fiona later arrived at John and Marlena's place. Brady let Fiona in and told her about his memories then asked her if it was possible that he could have hit Sarah. Fiona tried to assuage Brady’s fears and told him that Sarah also had no memory of the accident. However, Brady was aghast after Fiona mentioned Sarah’s possible paralysis. He declared that he needed to turn himself in.
Fiona warned Brady against acting in haste. Brady wanted Fiona to take a look at his car so he could get her opinion. She reluctantly agreed to the request. When Brady took Fiona down to the garage, he was stunned to find his car missing.
Later, Maggie arrived at Xander and Sarah’s apartment with Victoria, and they found the room empty and Fiona gone.
At the police station, Paulina found Jada scanning video footage from Sarah’s accident. Jada explained that the force was understaffed, which was why Jada had taken on a greater role in the case. Paulina promised to secure Jada more assistance. Jada was thankful but expressed doubts that they would find a promising lead in Sarah’s case. Just then, Jada received a call about possible deleted footage that had been uncovered from the night of the accident.
Later, Jada and Paulina watched the new footage on Jada’s laptop. They saw the moment of impact but could not discern any details about the car. Jada slowed down the footage and spotted something. She proclaimed that they’d just “broken the case wide open.”
Jada was able to get a partial license plate number for the car. She assured a skeptical Paulina that the information could lead to an identification of the car and the driver.
In Horton Town Square, Johnny and Abe approached a bickering Chanel and Alex. Johnny thought Alex was bothering Chanel, but Alex told him that Chanel had been rehashing “ancient history.” Alex left in a huff, leaving Johnny with questions for Chanel. Abe surveyed the situation with a small smile then excused himself. Johnny insisted that Chanel tell him if Alex had been harassing her.
Chanel reluctantly admitted that she and Alex had been fighting about Allie, but she quickly clarified that she had only been upset about Alex’s betrayal of her friendship. Chanel assured Johnny that she was with the person she was meant to be with. The talk turned to what Johnny had wanted to discuss with Chanel. When he broached the subject of casting a new “ingenue who’s a bit of a spitfire” role for Body & Soul, Chanel was initially confused. Her eyes widened in surprise when Johnny suggested that she audition for the role.
Chanel balked at the idea, but Johnny reminded her that she had expressed interest in pursuing a new creative outlet. He praised her looks and talent and continued his persuasion, fending off her concerns about them working together. Chanel agreed to audition, and the couple sealed the deal with a kiss. Johnny promised that Chanel would not regret her decision.
Abe caught up with Alex outside the Brady Pub. Alex didn’t want to talk about the fight with Chanel. Abe grinned and said he’d had a question for Alex instead: “Have you ever thought about becoming an actor?” Alex was caught off-guard and claimed he’d always been more interested in sports. Abe relayed his belief that Alex would be “perfect” for a role on Body & Soul. Alex smiled and reiterated that while he knew he was a “handsome devil,” Alex was not an actor.
Abe contended that several non-actors had already been cast. Alex acknowledged that he didn’t have anything going on employment-wise, and Abe seized the opening to encourage Alex. Abe cautioned Alex that if Alex accepted the role, he might be working opposite Chanel.
Alex reminded Abe of the friction with Chanel, and Abe admitted that Alex and Chanel’s sparring was a big part of the reason why Abe thought they would be perfect for the roles. Abe was certain that he could smooth over any potential problems with Chanel and Johnny, so Alex relented and ageed to the audition. Alex mused on what would happen if Chanel didn’t get the part. Abe responded that Alex would have to “make sparks fly” with someone else.
Later, Alex and Chanel separately read lines for their auditions, and both snarked about the outrageousness of the plot.
