Former Days of our Lives star Wayne Northrop's death has touched the soap world since news of his passing broke on Sunday, December 1. Now, both his on-screen and off-screen wives, Lynn Herring and Deidre Hall, have spoken out about the beloved actor's death.
Lynn Herring pays tribute to her husband
Herring and Northrop were married for 43 years and even worked together in daytime. Although Herring is best known for playing Lucy Coe on General Hospital, she also portrayed Lisanne Gardner on DAYS in 1992. Northrop appeared on the GH spin-off Port Charles in 1997 when Herring brought Lucy to the new half-hour soap.

"Wayne has always been the Man of my Dreams and now he will always be the Man in my Dreams," Herring wrote on X (formerly Twitter). "No one navigates a loss alone & all of your love & kindness helps Hank, Grady & I take this journey Thank you, especially our @GeneralHospital & @DaysPeacock family."
Herring also released a statement on Sunday announcing her husband had passed.
"Wayne was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s 6 years ago," she said. "He took his last breath in the arms of his family. We wish to thank the most caring and amazing place, The Motion Picture and Television Home for taking such great care of him. Wayne touched so many people with his sense of humor and wit. A husband for 43 years, the best dad ever to his two boys, Hank and Grady, and a rancher who loved his cows and was a friend to many."
More Days of our Lives stars remember Wayne Northrop
Deidre Hall described her former co-star in an interview with US Weekly. Hall and Northrop began working together in 1981 when he originated the role of Roman Brady. The pairing of Roman and Marlena became an instant fan favorite that is remembered to this day.
"[Wayne] never met a joke he didn’t like," Hall said, remembering Northrop fondly. "He never met a practical joke that he didn’t want to pull on somebody. He was forever, forever playing practical jokes."
Susan Seaforth Hayes echoed Hall's sentiments, calling Northrop "a darling guy" and "always funny." She also noted all the losses DAYS has experienced this year.
"My husband, Bill Hayes, Drake Hogestyn, and now Wayne Northrop. Bang, bang, bang, all coming down at once. I think the show gives comfort and it certainly gives me comfort to come in and work with Deidre and see that we are going forward and making the best of every hard situation."
