Fiona's lies unraveled; Days of our Lives Recap for Monday, October 14, 2024

In Paris, Chad received a call from Steve. When Steve asked if Abigail had gotten back any specific memories, Chad quickly caught on to Steve’s lingering suspicions. Chad assured Steve that he and Abigail were fine and testily implied that Steve should back off. However, Chad alarmed Steve by informing his uncle-in-law that he and Abigail were getting married again. Steve wondered about the sudden decision, and Chad responded that Abigail had remembered her love for him and that it had been her idea to have a ceremony.

Chad took note of Steve’s continued reticence and scoffed at the lack of well-wishes. Steve admitted he still had concerns and expressed that Chad should, too. Chad sarcastically replied that he would give Steve’s regards to Abigail and hung up.

Outside a Parisian café, Holly eavesdropped as “Abigail” updated Mark over the phone on her and Chad’s engagement. When “Abigail” mentioned that everything she had done had been for “Mom,” Holly looked at her quizzically. Mark told his sister that he had visited Clyde, who had another demand. Before Mark could reveal Clyde’s new plan, Holly called out. “Abigail” ended the call with Mark and turned her attention to Holly.

Holly explained their mutual connections to “Abigail” as the two sat down at a table. After Holly told “Abigail” that Holly's mother, Nicole, was living in Paris, she added that she’d overheard about the wedding and offered her congratulations. Holly then hesitantly asked “Abigail” about why she’d mentioned her mom when discussing the engagement. “Abigail” came up with a story about wanting to act more like herself for the sake of her mother, who still had trouble accepting “Abigail” as her daughter. “Abigail” claimed she had been talking with her brother J.J., and Holly seemed to accept the explanation.

“Abigail” tried to make a quick departure by claiming that she needed to shop for the wedding. Holly threw her a curveball by asking to tag along. Later, “Abigail” returned to her and Chad’s place, with Holly in tow. Holly explained that she was in the city, visiting her mother, who had rented Holly a hotel room. Chad warmly greeted Holly and extended an offer for her to stay with him and “Abigail.”

“Abigail” looked none-too-pleased by the development, but she pretended to be okay with it after Holly went into another room. Chad thought that Holly could act as a bridesmaid for “Abigail,” and he indicated his excitement for the upcoming ceremony. “Abigail” shared his optimism but wore a pensive expression when they hugged.

Back in Salem, Steve paid Mark a visit at the hospital. He walked up just as Mark was fretting about Clyde’s demand that Mark kill Chad. But Steve apparently did not hear Mark’s statement because Steve introduced himself as Kayla’s husband. Mark’s discomfort grew when Steve announced that he wanted Mark to run another DNA test on Abigail. After Steve explained that he wanted to test a sample from Thomas, Mark agreed to Steve’s request.

Later, Mark returned with the new test results in hand. Mark said the tests had confirmed a familial connection between Thomas and Abigail. Steve thanked Mark for his help, and the doctor departed. As soon as Mark left the room, Steve talked aloud and revealed that the DNA samples had come from himself and Kayla. He cracked a joke about the test and indicated that Mark had just implicated himself in the faulty test. Mark had also confirmed Steve’s suspicion that the mystery woman was not Abigail.

Outside the Brady Pub, Xander filled Maggie in on Kristen’s offer to help Sarah walk again. Maggie expressed extreme reservation at the idea of “that lunatic” Rolf being involved, and Xander reminded her that the Salem doctors had not been optimistic at the prospects of treating Sarah’s paralysis. Xander grudgingly admitted that Kristen wanted Brady’s freedom in exchange for Rolf’s serum. Maggie worried about the weight of the decision on Sarah, until Xander informed her that Sarah had already decided to recant.

However, Xander dashed Maggie’s hopes when he revealed E.J.’s refusal to accept the changed statement. Xander blamed himself for the turn of events. Maggie was at a loss as to why Xander would shoulder the blame, so Xander was forced to confess that Sarah had lied about remembering Brady as the driver. The revelation disturbed Maggie, and she couldn’t understand why her daughter would tell a lie that would send Brady to prison. Xander then stunned Maggie further by disclosing his plot to kill Brady.

Xander recounted his plan, which had involved making it appear as if Brady had committed suicide. He defended his actions by declaring his need to see justice served for Sarah. He hesitantly asked if Maggie hated him. Maggie affirmed that she could never hate Xander, but she let him know how much his actions had disappointed her. She called Xander his own “worst enemy” and reminded him of how she’d cautioned him about his thirst for revenge. Xander acknowledged Maggie’s points and worried that his behavior would ultimately prevent Sarah from getting her miracle.

Maggie told Xander that she would talk to Kristen, as one mother to another. Xander doubted Maggie could persuade Kristen, but Maggie believed she had to try. When she left, Xander gave himself another verbal lashing.

Eric again visited Brady in the police interrogation room. Brady cautioned Eric not to talk him out of accepting the plea deal. Eric clarified that he wanted to talk about Brady and Fiona. Brady attempted to defend his prior relationship with Fiona, but Eric stopped him and stated that he specifically wanted to know if Fiona had been drinking with Brady the night of the accident. Brady initially attempted to cover for Fiona but eventually admitted the truth, at Eric’s insistence.

Eric pondered if Fiona could have lied about her involvement in the accident, as well. Brady balked at the insinuation and reminded Eric that he had woken up in the driver’s seat. Eric suggested that Fiona could have pulled an “Orpheus.” As Eric recalled the circumstances of how Orpheus had set an unsuspecting Maggie up as a hit-and-run driver, Brady seemed more receptive to the idea. Eric urged Brady to think hard about the night of the accident.

Suddenly, Brady had a memory of an upset Fiona awakening him in the car that night and exclaiming that she might have hit someone. In disbelief, Brady blurted out to Eric, “I’m innocent, brother.”

Sarah wheeled into her bedroom, her thoughts consumed with Eric’s claims about Fiona. Then, she had a quick flash of Fiona behind the wheel right before the accident. Sarah gasped in shock just as a smiling Fiona entered the room. Fiona’s smile quickly faded after Sarah turned to her and exclaimed, “It was you!” When Fiona feigned ignorance, Sarah added that she remembered the identity of her hit-and-run driver.

Fiona tried to convince Sarah that she had been dreaming or that she was confused, but Sarah protested, “I have never been more sure of anything in my life.” Fiona pressed Sarah on where she would have gotten such an idea, and Sarah relayed what Eric had told her about Fiona having been with Brady the night of the accident. Fiona admitted that she and Brady had been together at the bar, but she denied drinking that night. Fiona claimed that she had not said anything previously to spare Xander any more pain. After Fiona suggested that Eric had “put ideas” in Sarah’s head, Sarah vehemently affirmed that she knew the truth.

Sarah challenged Fiona to confess her wrongdoing, but Fiona remained unwavering in her denial. However, Fiona panicked when Sarah pulled out a phone and signaled her intention to call Xander. Fiona grabbed the phone, admitted the truth, and pleaded with Sarah to reconsider. She expressed remorse for what she had done but feared that she would lose Xander if he learned the truth. Fiona opened up about how lonely she had been since her estrangement from Xander, and she refuted Sarah’s accusation that Fiona only cared about Xander’s newfound wealth.

Sarah was unmoved by Fiona’s pleas and railed at Fiona for leaving her for dead in the road. The realization that she had condemned an innocent man to prison dawned on Sarah, and she insisted that she had to tell the police the truth. Fiona firmly stated that wouldn’t be happening, and she stood in Sarah's way. As Sarah struggled, Fiona pushed Sarah’s chair into the corridor and stopped at the head of the stairs.

With horror, Sarah realized that Fiona intended to throw her down the stairs. Fiona confirmed her intention and reasoned to herself that Maggie or Xander would find Sarah and assume that Sarah had lost control of her wheelchair. Just as Fiona affirmed that no one would be the wiser, Xander appeared, grabbed Sarah’s chair, and proclaimed, “Except me.” Relief washed over Sarah’s face as Xander locked eyes with his mother.
