Days of our Lives' Alison Sweeney teases possible production in Spain

It’s no wonder Sami has only been seen infrequently on Days of our Lives in recent years. It’s because her portrayer, Alison Sweeney, has been keeping busy with other projects, including the Murder She Baked series of movies for Hallmark. Another reason she’s been away from Salem could be that she was in Spain. She shared pics from her trip on social media and it had fans guessing as to whether or not she was making another TV movie.

Fans were excited for her

While DAYS fans have been on the edge of their seats waiting for Sami to come home to console her son Johnny (Carson Boatman), who's dealing with a horrifying revelation, Sweeney was busy on social media. On X, formerly Twitter, she shared several snaps and captioned them, “It’s been such an incredible experience living and working in Spain. The opportunity to get to see such history and visit several different important cultural keystones is one of the many reasons I will treasure the memory of this forever.”

The pics were selfies of Sweeney in front of several beautiful Spanish landscapes and even some ocean views. A fan going by @ButhDebby65302 responded, “Lucky ! I wish I were a movie star. Spain had to be a cultural overload. So much to see. Glad you had a good time.”

Clearly, the fact that she mentioned ‘working’ in Spain was a tease that she’s got a new film (or possible TV show) coming out, as @LarryCoope35024 commented, “Spain is beautiful. Looking forward to your next great movie!” @ChrissySunny1 tried to guess what the project she’s working on is with, “Another installment of The Wedding Veil?? Or a Cookie 🍪 Mystery? Or a Bright & Merry sequel? #Hallmark @hallmarkchannel.”

Odds are, it’s a movie filmed in Barcelona

The fan had some good guesses, but after looking at Sweeney’s IMDb page, she has two upcoming projects that seem to fit the bill: Barcelona, Mi Amor, and Barcelona, Mi Amor 2. Both films co-star As the World Turns alum Ashley Williams, and it seems very likely that they, along with the cast and crew of the film, traveled to Spain for some location shoots. Ron Oliver, the director of Barcelona, Mi Amor, shared a photo of himself holding a large beverage with the Barcelona Cathedral in the distance behind him on Instagram in January. He wrote, “Day One of preproduction for Barcelona, Mi Amor has ended in the usual fashion. (and yes, the gin and tonic is medicinal - it’s to help ward off jet lag.) #barcelona #barcelonamiamor #directorsguildofamerica #makingmoviesinspain #makingmovies #gaudi.”

Fan @lisa_catara eagerly responded, “SUCH a wonderful City, full of culture 🌹.”
