Days of our Lives spoilers preview: Many happy Salem returns

It'll feel like old home week in Salem when several characters make their returns. However, it looks like two of these returns are to usher another character off the canvas.

Vivian Alamain (Louise Sorel) is back, but it doesn't appear she'll stick around for long. Instead, she wants her son with her and will do anything to make sure that happens. Vivian's trusty manservant Ivan (Ivan G'vera) is right by her side, taking orders as usual. Ivan attacks Stefan (Brandon Barash) in the DiMera living room, knocks him out, and sticks him in the trunk of a car.

Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) won't know what happened to her husband, but at least she has a distraction when an old face from her past appears at Rafe's (Galen Gering) door. Is Gabi about to start a whole new life?

Brother vs. brother

Philip Kiriakis (John-Paul Lavoisier) is also back in Salem with a mission in mind. He intends to save Titan from his newly-found half-brother, Xander (Paul Telfer). Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) manages to convince Xander to hand over his father's company in exchange for Dr. Rolf's (Richard Wharton) serum, but Philip isn't about to let that happen.

Philip confronts Xander in the Kiriakis living room, reminding him that Victor had been his father, too. Therefore, Xander does not have the final say about what happens to their father's company — at least in Philip's mind.

A battle between brothers is brewing with Kristen still holding all the cards. Xander wants Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) to walk again and he might not be able to give Kristen what she wants to get a hold of Rolf's magic.

Caught in the act?

While Holly (Ashley Puzemis) has been away, Tate (Leo Howard) and Sophia (Madelyn Kientz) have been growing closer. Tate seems to realize that his relationship with Sophia is a lot less stressful than his relationship with Holly.

As Tate and Sophia spend time in Tate's bedroom, Sophia tells him that she is ready. However, they have no idea that Holly is back in Salem and right outside the door. Holly feels bad for the way she treated Tate and wants to make amends but it might be a case of too little, too late.
