It's Christmas in Salem this week as the Hortons gather around the tree for the first time since Doug (Bill Hayes) has not been with them. It's only been a few weeks since Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) said goodbye to the beloved husband who she lost on Thanksgiving.

Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) have stuck around town and are there to help Julie host a traditional Horton Christmas. We even get a very tender moment when old pals Xander (Paul Telfer) and Jack finally make up. Jack was devastated when Xander and Gwen (Emily O'Brien) stole the Spectator out from under him. He disowned his newfound daughter and put distance between him and Xander. After the loss both men have experienced over the last year, they realize that they need to let bygones be bygones.

Xander is no longer with Gwen, is happily married to Sarah (Linsey Godfrey), and even enjoys a Christmas morning in bed with his wife before heading to the Horton house.

Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) make Abe's (James Reynolds) and Paulina's (Jackee Harry) dreams come true as they spend their second holiday with them in a month. Doug's death helped put things in perspective for Eli about family. Will Lani and Eli move back to Salem with Jules and Carver, who can't wait to open their presents on Christmas morning?

Across town, Brady (Eric Martsolf) arrives at the DiMera mansion to give Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) her Christmas gifts. Will Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) try to make any moves on Brady or help ruin the holiday with another fight that will make Rachel as bitter toward her parents as she was last year?

With his lawsuit behind him and a new desire to remain in Salem, Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) is all in on his pursuit of Stephanie (Abigail Klein). It doesn't matter to him that she has lingering (or maybe not-so-lingering) feelings for his cousin Alex (Robert Scott Wilson). Philip wants his ex back and even asks her out on a date. Will Stephanie be receptive?

Tate (Leo Howard) also has romance on his mind and plans a special time with Holly (Ashley Puzemis) in an empty Brady Pub. He even tells Holly that he loves her for the first time. Holly is touched and moved, but will Tate bother mentioning that he is about to be a dad?
