Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) didn't expect New Year's Eve to blow in their faces the way it did. Chanel (Raven Bowens) learned what happened between Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Joy one fateful night while Alex saw Stephanie (Abigail Klein) kissing Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier), her first kiss of the new year.

That caused Alex and Joy to turn to each other for comfort. What started as a conversation in her Salem Inn room quickly turned into something more, and now they have to live with the consequences.

Joy and Alex didn't mean to sleep together, but they did. Joy isn't really attached to anyone, but she did once again get involved with someone who really wants someone else.

She ended up with Johnny when he thought that Chanel was sleeping with Alex and now she is with Alex because he thinks Stephanie wants Philip. When they wake in the morning, awkward does not even begin to describe the situation. Do they realize they made a massive mistake? More importantly, has Joy now developed feelings for Alex?

It doesn't matter to Chanel that Johnny and Joy actually did not have sex with one another, as she and the audience had believed. Yes, Johnny stopped himself before it got too far, but as Chanel said, he kissed another woman and was naked in a bed with her. That's enough for Chanel to walk out on Johnny once again and end up at her mother's.

Paulina (Jackee Harry) is sympathetic to Chanel's plight and can't believe that Johnny did such a thing to her precious baby girl. Paulina encouraged Chanel to go back to Johnny after he had accused her of cheating and even called her a slut, but she is not about to let Chanel forgive him so soon this time. Paulina is there to support Chanel, but they both get a shock.

Surprisingly, Abe (James Reynolds) can see Johnny's point of view here. He doesn't think Johnny is in the right, but he does seem to be much more forgiving than his wife and stepdaughter. Does that mean Johnny might still stand a chance?
