Days of our Lives spoilers, February 28: Can Marlena and Paulina talk sense into Johnny and Chanel?

What to expect on Days of our Lives

Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) are still gung ho about adopting Tate (Leo Howard) and Sophia's (Rachel Boyd) baby despite Chanel still needing to have a procedure at the hospital. After running into Tate and Sophia in Horton Square, they head to the hospital, where Paulina (Jackee Harry) and Marlena (Deidre Hall) are waiting.

Paulina spends some time alone with Chanel and warns her that adopting a baby from a family member could be a disaster, but Chanel doesn't want to hear it. Marlena is also surprised to hear this news and asks Johnny why he and Chanel are in such a rush.

After all, they are still young and newlyweds. Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) hasn't even told Chanel that she could never have children. She just told her to wait for now due to high HCG levels. Johnny and Chanel could be jumping the gun with this idea, but so could Tate and Sophia if Johnny and Chanel end up changing their minds — or if Sophia's mom has her say.

Will Mother approve?

Sophia is so relieved that she and Tate might have found the perfect couple to adopt her baby that she needs to tell her mother right away. This was what she had prayed for, knowing she was not ready to get married or raise a child at this point in her life.

However, the discussion becomes more chaotic and stressful than Sophia ever imagined. Is Amy Choi (Shi Ne Neilson) against the idea immediately without even hearing Sophia out?

Johnny and Chanel had worried that they might not be the kind of couple Amy had been thinking of. She wanted a good Christian family to raise her grandchild, and the DiMeras are anything but a good family. In fact, they are a well-known criminal clan that has been wreaking havoc in Salem for decades, mainly with Stefano DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) as the ruthless patriarch.

Might Johnny's paternal family ties be what causes this adoption to fall through before it ever really gets off the ground?
