With so many former Salemites back in town for Doug's (Bill Hayes) memorial, it feels like old home week in Horton Town Square. That's where Salem citizens have several encounters after Doug is buried.

Ciara (Victoria Konefal) gets to know her uncle, Steven Olson (Stephen Schnetzer), who has his own meeting with Leo Stark (Greg Rikaart). After getting to know Leo, Steven chats with Lucas (Bryan R. Dattilo) and Ciara, but there's even more excitement at the Horton house as cousins get together and examine the treasure box found after the fire earlier this year.

Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) has been trying to open it for months but has had no success. However, Ciara manages to get it open with very little effort, surprising Lucas, Shawn (Brandon Beemer), and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves). What will they find inside the box? Is it a message sent from heaven above and does it contain any poignant Horton history? Perhaps it will lead the Hortons to a brand-new storyline for DAYS' 60th year on the air.

An emotional reunion

When Belle (Martha Madison) returned to Salem earlier this fall for her parents' anniversary, it was easy to explain why she wasn't with Shawn. He didn't want to leave Bo (Peter Reckell) and Hope's (Kristian Alfonso) side in Greece. He moved to Greece for rehab, but he also wanted to be with his mother and father while Bo lingered in a coma.

Shawn and Belle are both in Salem, so why is Belle surprised when Shawn pays her a visit at John's (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena's (Deidre Hall) place? She had to know she would encounter him privately, as they were both in town for Doug's memorial.

Belle and Shawn have an emotional talk, and it's clear that things are still fraught between them after he slept with Talia Hunter (Aketra Sevillian) last year. Shawn was drinking too much and not thinking straight, but he has his act together now and just wants to make things right with Belle. Is Belle willing to hear him out or has too much damage been done on both their parts?
