Lani (Sal Stowers) and Eli (Lamon Archey) arrived in Salem for a Thanksgiving tragedy when Doug (Bill Hayes) unexpectedly passed away. Now, they are in Salem for Christmas and a double-bittersweet celebration.

They were with Eli's family for Christmas Eve as they hung the ornaments on the tree, and Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) remembered Doug. On Christmas Day, Lani makes a stop to see her old BFF, Kristen DiMera (Stacy Haiduk). After the pair catch up with Rachel (Finley Rose Slater) looking on, Lani joins her family.

Lani and Eli spend time with Abe (James Reynolds) and Paulina (Jackee Harry) as they also celebrate the birth of their twins, Jules and Carver. After losing their first son, David, the twins' birth was a true Christmas miracle for Lani and Eli. They were terrified when Vivian Alamain (then played by Linda Dano) kidnapped them, but thankfully, they were rescued quickly.

Abe and Paulina are thrilled to have their family with them for the holiday as they all make the trek to the hospital, where Abe dons a Santa suit and hands out gifts to the children. Mayor Paulina is also on hand to read Christmas stories, and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) is there to oversee it all.

The day turns romantic when Eli breaks out the breaks out the mistletoe, and Santa gives the mayor a big surprise.

Ava's desperate for help

While Kayla is on hospital duty for Christmas, Steve (Stephen Nichols) spends his time at a table in the Brady Pub, which apparently is open and busy on the holiday. Steve is surprised when Ava (Tamara Braun) drops by his table with a problem.

Ava needs Steve's help, but Steve isn't sure he should listen to her pleas. Is Ava still unnerved by the texts she received after her date with Brady (Eric Martsolf)? It was clear that someone was watching them. Kristen is the most obvious suspect, but she denies everything, and Brady seems to believe her.

Steve knows that Ava has a reputation for telling tall tales, but she seems to be on the up and up this time as she asks for his help finding the person who could be stalking her. Will he agree to come to Ava's rescue once again?
