Days of our Lives spoilers, December 16: Is the Kiriakis clan about to take sides?

It's finally time for Xander (Paul Telfer) and Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) to battle it out in court. Xander thought he made a clever move when he saw to it that Philip would lose his attorney at the last minute. He didn't count on Belle (Martha Madison) agreeing to represent his brother with almost no notice.

Xander and Justin (Wally Kurth) also didn't count on Shawn-Douglas (Brandon Beemer) choosing to take Philip's side in the battle for Titan. Justin was sure he could get Shawn to testify on Xander's behalf, but now they need someone else to go to bat for him.

To that end, Justin asks Maggie (Suzanne Rogers) if she will appear on Xander's behalf and tell the judge why she thinks he should run her late husband's company. Even before he became her son-in-law, Maggie has always had a soft spot for Xander. Will she agree to testify to help both Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) and Xander, or does she really believe Philip will be the better CEO?

Justin isn't the only lawyer with a major request. Belle needs something from Brady (Eric Martsolf), but is it for business or personal matters? Belle was stunned to learn that Brady planned to take Ava Vitali (Tamara Braun) to a performance on the Nutcracker. He even described the outing as a date. She asked Brady to reconsider his choice of a theater companion, but Brady was adamant that he wanted to get to know Ava better.

Does Belle ask Brady to reconsider, or does Philip's plight take center stage? She had very little time to prepare this case and needs all the help she can get. Brady is a Kiriakis and has worked for Titan off and on for years.

His grandfather's legacy is indeed important to him and he also has a bone to pick with Xander. However, Xander offered him his current position at Basic Black, so he may not want to rock the boat. Then again, Brady and Philip have closer ties than Brady and Xander, so what will Brady do? Perhaps he will just enjoy his date with Ava and forget all about family battles — that is if Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) doesn't get in the way.
