Days of Our Lives will start to feel like home again very soon when old Salemites begin returning to town. The show is slated to welcome back a slew of familiar faces in early December, but the homecomings begin in time for Thanksgiving when Matthew Ashford and Melissa Reeves reprise the roles of Jack and Jennifer Deveraux, according to Soap Opera Digest.
Days of our Lives comebacks are here
Jack and Jennifer arrive in Salem next week after learning that their daughter, Abigail, is not alive after all. The woman claiming to be Abigail turned out to be an imposter named Cat Greene (AnnaLynn McCord), leaving Jack and Jennifer furious. Jennifer is set to take out her anger on Cat right in the middle of the Horton living room.

The last time Jennifer was in town, she was played by Cady McClain. She has been alternating the role with Reeves since 2020 and won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performer in 2021. During that visit, Chad (Billy Flynn) introduced Cat as her allegedly dead daughter, but Jennifer felt right away that Cat wasn't Abigail.
Reeves began playing Jennifer in 1985 when the SORAS'd granddaughter of Tom (Macdonald Carey) and Alice Horton (Frances Reid). She returned to Salem after her mother was hospitalized to live with her grandparents and attend high school.
Ashford, who has been playing Jack off and on since 1997, spent several weeks back on the Salem scene. Jack was there to help Chad track down this mystery woman and invited Jennifer to Salem once a (rigged) DNA test showed the woman was Abigail.
A bittersweet homecoming
According to the DAYS extended promo video released in conjunction with the Day of Days fan event earlier this month, Jack will find Doug Williams after he's passed away in his sleep. Doug's death is the catalyst for the many returns to come in December.
Expect a sweeping memorial service honoring Doug and the legendary actor who played him. Bill Hayes began playing Doug in 1970 and last aired earlier this year. The actor died on January 12 at the age of 98.
Other stars who will be back to honor Hayes and Doug include Stephen Schnetzer (Steve Olson), Maree Cheatham (Marie Horton), and Gloria Loring (Liz Chandler). Kristian Alfonso, who played Doug's daughter Hope off and on since 1983, will also appear.
