Greg Vaughan just left Days of our Lives and the Salem scene behind on July 29. Now, word comes that the actor will be back as Eric Brady soon, according to Soap Opera Digest.
Days of our Lives' Eric returns home to Salem
Eric and Nicole took off for Paris with their son, Jude, in July to start a new life after Eric received a plum job offer. They wanted to get away from E.J. after he vowed to make their lives in Salem a living hell. They left Nicole's teenage daughter, Holly, behind, but Holly is not the reason for Eric's return.
With Brady in the hot seat over the hit-and-run that caused Sarah's paralysis, Eric returns home to be there for his brother. Does Brady finally turn himself in, or does Jada figure out that the car she is looking for is the one Brady claims was stolen?
Eric can understand Brady's situation because he's already spent time in prison for the drunk-driving accident that cost Daniel Jonas his life. A lovesick Eric drowned his sorrows in booze on New Year's Eve in 2015 after seeing how happy Nicole was with Daniel. Will he become moral support for Brady, even though Brady wasn't driving his own car that night? Little does Brady know it was Fiona who got behind the wheel and set him up to take the fall.
Is this really the end of Eric?
After Eric and Nicole left for Paris, Vaughan's status on DAYS seemed up in the air. Deidre Hall (Marlena Evans) shared a photo of herself and Vaughan on Instagram that has since been removed. She captioned it with a sweet message.
"Sad day, saying goodbye to this kind, caring, beautiful man," Hall wrote. "It was a delight to get to know him well in our time together. In addition to his many gifts, I found his profound commitment and devotion to his family the most endearing."
Soap Opera Digest had reported that Vaughan would be back but offered no further details. However, Vaughan posted a photo of that article to his Instagram stories, simply saying, "I didn't leave by choice. I never had a choice."
Is this return a brief one to wrap up Eric's story for good? Will he soon fly back to Paris so Eric and Nicole can have their true happily ever after?
