Daytime vet Cady McClain, whose last soap appearance was as Days of our Lives' Jennifer Deveraux in August, is mourning the loss of her beloved dog, Mr. Peanut.

Days of our Lives' Cady McClain says goodbye to her precius pet

McClain, who now lives in New York City and can be seen in various Instagram pics taking her four-legged friend all aroung the Big Apple in a stroller, shared the news on social media.

"Mr Peanut has gone to meet his maker," McClain wrote. "Those of you who know me well know how close this little man and I were. We were bonded right at the heart bone, loyal to one another through thick and thin."

The actress said she is proud that she ensured that Mr. Peanut lived a good life with very little suffering.

"I made a promise to Mr Peanut when he was a tiny six-week-old pup that he would never suffer," McClain continued. "That his life would be full of joy and that he would always know he was loved. And I’m proud to have made good on that promise. Anyone who tried to hurt this dog met my wrath and I’m not sorry one bit. It was my honor and privilege to love this guy. I think he felt the same about me."

Finnally, McClain is thankful that she can still feel her pet's presence and belives his spirit will live on.

"I am so grateful that I still feel him with me," McClain admitted. "It is a kind of energetic proof to me that there is life beyond the body. Even for dogs. We do not become 'nothing.' That’s my story and I’m sticking to it."

Jon Lindstrom also mourns

Jon Lindstrom (Kevin Collins, General Hospital) reposted McClain's sentiments on his own Instagram page. In April of this year, McClain and Lindstrom announced their plans to divorce after ten years of marriage.

Just a few days before Mr. Peanut passed, McClain indicated that her dog was not in good health.

"Yesterday was a very beautiful day in NYC, and it was a day devoted to Mr Peanut," McClain wrote on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and her pet. "I don’t know how many more days he will have (do any of us?) but darn if they won’t be full of all love he has given me."
