At the hospital, Tate wondered how the situation with Sarah could have been his and Holly’s fault. Holly updated him on Sarah and Maggie’s prior search for the missing cabin key, which had ultimately led Sarah to the area where she had been hit. Tate tried to comfort Holly, and he reassured her that many factors played into Sarah being “in the wrong place at the wrong time.” Ultimately, however, the only person responsible had been the driver who had hit Sarah and had not even helped her. Holly revealed that she had told Maggie and Sarah the truth and that both women had said the same things to her.

Holly asked about Brady’s reaction to Tate’s deception. Tate replied that he hadn’t been sure where things stood with his dad because Brady had acted distracted and then had abruptly departed. Holly thought that Brady’s distraction might be a good thing for Tate, but Tate worried that something more had been going on with his dad. He wanted a stronger relationship with Brady after what had happened with his mom. Tate believed he should go home and “face the music,” and Holly decided to accompany him.

Xander greeted Sarah and Maggie in Sarah’s hospital room. Sarah credited her pep talk with her mom for her determination to leave the hospital and begin physical therapy. Xander agreed to check on the status of Sarah’s release and also mentioned wanting an update on the investigation. Sarah cautioned him to let the police do their jobs. While Xander promised to back off, he pledged that the culprit, when apprehended, would have “hell to pay.”

Later, Xander reentered the room and informed a pleased Sarah that she could be released from the hospital that day. Maggie thanked Xander for all that he had done and excused herself to pick up Victoria. Once alone with Sarah, Xander made her promise that she would not overextend herself once she got home. She agreed and expressed excitement about sleeping in her own bed again. Xander said he had an idea that might make Sarah’s recovery easier and suggested that they stay at the mansion so Sarah could have access to better resources.

Sarah thought it over and agreed that relocating to the mansion was a good idea. She also credited Fiona for her assistance with Victoria. Sarah believed that inviting Fiona to the wedding had been one of the “best decisions” she had ever made.

Later, Sarah attempted with some difficulty to move into her wheelchair. Xander gently encouraged her to let him help her, and she relented. Xander picked Sarah up and placed her in the chair, and the couple shared a loving kiss.

At the police station, Brady interrupted Jada’s call. Jada inquired as to what Brady was doing there, and Brady stated that it should have been obvious. He confessed to driving the car that had hit Sarah. Brady then admitted that he had panicked and lied about the car being stolen.

Jada wondered why Brady had decided to come clean, and he responded with emotion that he had wanted to set a good example for his son about taking responsibility. Brady also talked about the tremendous guilt he had for driving drunk. Brady called his actions “evil.” Jada stopped him and advised him to call his attorney.

In Horton Town Square, Fiona confided to Victoria how easy it had been to talk to the little girl, since Victoria would not judge Fiona. Fiona bemoaned not being able to have a drink and expressed her guilt for what she had done to Sarah. As Fiona lamented destroying a young woman’s life, Justin walked up. Fiona acted like she did not recognize Justin, so he introduced himself as Victor’s nephew.

Fiona remembered Justin from the wedding and attributed her lack of recognition to the chaos of that day. Justin said he understood, and he chatted briefly with Fiona about Victoria and Xander, both of whom Fiona was grateful to have in her life. Justin mentioned that the police had found a clue in Sarah’s hit-and-run case, and he expressed hope that the driver would soon be caught. With a strained smile, Fiona hoped for the same. Justin turned the topic to Alex and thanked Fiona for giving him his son back.

When Justin gushed that Fiona had “changed so many lives for the better,” she wore a guilty expression. Her guilt increased after Justin received a call from Brady informing him that Brady had confessed to Sarah’s hit-and-run. After Justin left, Maggie approached Fiona and noted that the other woman seemed disturbed. Fiona shocked Maggie by revealing that someone had confessed to hitting Sarah and that the someone was Victor’s grandson Brady.

Maggie couldn’t believe that Brady would be involved in a hit-and-run, but she realized that Brady might have been drinking. Fiona made a somewhat snide comment about Maggie having been Brady’s sponsor, but before Maggie could reply, she received a text from Xander. Maggie informed Fiona that Xander and Sarah had moved into the mansion. Fiona was further surprised after Maggie extended an invitation for Fiona to also move into the mansion. Fiona gladly accepted.

Maggie worried how Xander would react to Brady’s confession, given the bad blood between the Kiriakis men. Later, Fiona returned to the Salem Inn and packed her things. She flashed back to her night with Brady and stated aloud that Brady did not “deserve this.” She wondered what she could do other than confess. Fiona decided that confessing would mean losing her relationship with Xander. She grabbed her suitcase and affirmed that while she felt sorry for Brady, she had “too much to lose.”

At John and Marlena’s place, John tried to call Brady, to no avail. John expressed frustration to Marlena that Brady was not responding. Marlena asked John if he was having doubts about Brady, and John admitted that given Brady’s lies about the missing car, it did not look good. Marlena could not believe that Brady would get behind the wheel drunk, and she especially had doubts about him leaving Sarah hurt. John contended that Brady might not have been thinking clearly because of the alcohol. He recalled Brady having talked to Paul about a potential fall off the wagon and decided to contact Paul for clarification.

After John got off the phone with Paul, he relayed to Marlena that Paul had caught Brady with a drink. However, Paul had claimed that Brady had disposed of the drink. While Brady had been tempted, he had supposedly not taken a drink. Marlena exhaled with relief, but John still had a “sinking feeling” that his initial assumption had been correct.

Later, John grabbed his keys so that he could search for Brady. Tate and Holly arrived before John could leave. An alarmed John wanted to know why Tate was on crutches, and Tate hesitantly admitted that he had been lying about lacrosse camp. After Tate relayed his story, John and Marlena expressed disappointment that he had deceived them. A chastised Tate apologized and mentioned Brady's distracted reaction, but a phone call interrupted the conversation.

John answered and seemed shocked and horrified by what he had been told. Following the call, John revealed that an old friend from the police station had informed him that the suspected hit-and-run driver was being detained. When Tate asked about the suspect, John stunned his grandson by admitting that Brady was the person in custody.

Xander and a wheelchair-bound Sarah later arrived at the mansion. Xander promised to get anything that Sarah wanted or needed, and she thanked him for his continued love and support. Xander took her hand and vowed that he would be by Sarah’s side “forever.” When he left to fetch Sarah a snack, her smile faltered.

After Xander returned to the room with the snack, Jada called and told him that the police had a suspect in custody. Xander wanted “the bastard’s name.”

Later, Maggie arrived home with Victoria and found Sarah with a contemplative expression on her face. Maggie said that she had something to tell her daughter, but Sarah confirmed that she already knew. She asked her mom how Brady could have done such a thing. Maggie couldn’t provide answers, but she wondered where Xander had gone.

Sarah expressed deep concern because Xander had gone to the station against her wishes. She stated with worry that Xander had looked angry enough to kill.

When Justin arrived at the station, Jada gave him time alone with Brady, who had been placed in an interrogation room. Justin couldn’t understand how Brady could have left Sarah on the side of the road. Brady, in turn, said that he understood if Justin didn’t want to take the case, since Xander and Sarah were Justin’s family. Justin affirmed that Brady was his family, too, and he wanted to hear Brady’s side of the story.

Brady opened up about his recent relapse and told Justin about having been drunk the night of Sarah’s accident and having woken up in his driver’s seat with no memory of the night's events. Brady had assumed his guilt when he had heard a description of the car and had seen scratches on his own car. After Brady finished, Justin hinted that Brady’s guilt was not certain. Justin reminded Brady that he did not have a clear recollection of the accident.

Brady insisted that all the evidence pointed to him, and he also admitted to having heard the sound of screeching tires in his head repeatedly. Justin cautioned Brady against a full confession, but Brady angrily reiterated that he deserved whatever punishment was coming his way.

Xander stormed into the station and blew off Jada’s warnings that he calm down. After he learned that Brady had likely been drunk at the time of the accident, Xander rushed into the interrogation room and wrapped his hands around Brady’s throat. Jada and Justin tried to pull Xander off of Brady, and Xander finally let go after Justin invoked Sarah and Victoria. Coughing, Brady pleaded with Xander to tell Sarah that he had not meant it. Xander spat that he would make sure Brady spent the rest of his “miserable life” in prison.
