Holly made it clear to Doug that they were only friends, and he agreed to move on. With Julie interested in filing a police report, Holly helped Doug follow up with Leo about the necklace. When Tate grew suspicious of Doug’s connection to Holly, Doug confessed to Tate that he had stolen a necklace. Leo set up a meeting between Doug and the woman that had purchased Julie’s necklace. When Doug went to the meet, it was Melinda.
EJ was cocky about his chances of escaping justice, and he promised Paulina that her reelection would fail. Chanel and Johnny agreed to lie to Amy about the extent of their involvement with the church. Johnny asked EJ and Paulina to stay for their meeting with Amy about the adoption.
Gabi confirmed to Jada that the DNA tests proved that the man she had confronted was not Rafe. Jada and Gabi vowed to find Rafe. When they confronted EJ, he was in the middle of the meeting with Amy Choi for her to assess Johnny and Chanel as adoptive parents. The accusations leveled at EJ soured Amy on an adoption with the DiMera family.
When Johnny talked to EJ about Arnold, EJ pretended to have no idea that Arnold had switched places with Rafe. Johnny warned EJ that if learned that EJ had known about Arnold, he would never forgive or speak to EJ again.
Shawn questioned Savannah about Rafe, and she confirmed he had called himself Arnold. Rafe remembered some of his past with Jada and when he had run into Arnold at the DiMera mansion. Forensics confirmed that the man in custody was Rafe. Jada had a tearful reunion with Rafe. Rita informed EJ that she had solved the Arnold situation, but she did not give details. Gabi held EJ at gunpoint, but JJ intervened and told her Rafe was at the station. Leo pitched a story to Chad about the DiMera family, and he convinced a skeptical Chad to publish it.
Marlena learned that John was missing and had not checked in with Shane during his undercover assignment. Overcome, Marlena became emotional in front of Cat. When Cat went to meet up with Chad, she told him that something had happened to John. Marlena told Brady about John’s disappearance, and he encouraged her to stay positive. While Brady called the family to tell them the news, Marlena told Belle. Frantic with worry, Marlena resolved to go fly to DC to confront Shane. Steve insisted on going with her.
Joy and Alex had an awkward conversation about their break-up, but they wished each other well. When Joy attempted to eat lunch, she became ill. Joy went to see Sarah at the hospital for tests. Sarah called the lab to rush the results of Joy’s pregnancy test, and Stephanie overheard. Kayla advised Stephanie to keep the information to herself because it was private.
A directionless Alex asked Xander for a job at Titan. Xander agreed. Philip ran into Joy in the square, and she asked him for a job at Titan as well. Xander agreed to let Philip hire Joy. When Philip noted that Joy might not want to work with Alex, Xander convinced Philip that Alex was needed at Titan. Joy decided to work at Titan despite Alex’s presence.
Xander invited Wei Shin to Salem to discuss a business proposition with Titan. Xander and Philip pitched the idea of a hostile takeover of DiMera. Based on the argument of a united front in the Kiriakis family versus the scandals and backstabbing of the DiMeras, Wei was intrigued. Philip promised Wei that he would have sole control of the DiMera holdings after the takeover. Wei agreed to talk to his associates about the offer.
Ava disappointed Belle by refusing to testify against Kristen or EJ. Ava explained that she did not want to give CPS the ammunition to take Rachel away from Brady. Kristen gloated to Belle and Ava about Ava’s decision, and she demanded the release of her mother from jail. Rachel was freed. Kristen asked Rachel to behave while she was in Salem, and Rachel agreed. After Rachel unpacked, she went straight to Ava’s apartment and waited for her.
