Days of our Lives summary for the week of December 30, 2024

When Holly interrupted Tate and Sophia’s trip out of the city, they told Holly about the scheduled abortion. While Sophia went for a walk, Tate talked to Holly privately about the situation. Tate promised that his relationship with Holly would not change, but she was not so sure. After Holly left, she talked to Doug about her dilemma with Tate. Holly cried on Doug’s shoulder, and he invited her to ring in the New Year on the Horton couch with him.

In the square, Ava accidentally caused Sophia’s mom, Amy Choi, to be suspicious of Sophia. When Sophia wandered into the square on her walk, a suspicious Amy forced Sophia to tell her about the pregnancy. Amy marched Sophia back to the penthouse, and she mandated that Tate and Amy would marry and raise the baby together. Ava told Brady about Sophia’s revelation that she had heard in the square.

When EJ raised Rafe’s suspicions about a secret, Rafe broke into the mansion. Rafe ran into his doppelganger Arnold in the living room while Rafe was snooping. Arnold confessed that EJ and Stefano had faked his death and had shipped him off to Argentina. As Rafe attempted to call the police, Arnold knocked him out.

At the police station, Jada convinced Paulina to fire EJ and replace him with Belle. Shawn told Belle he was fine to work with her if she became DA and that he was proud of her. When EJ arrived at the station, Paulina fired him. EJ accused Jada of orchestrating a plot to oust him from his job, but Paulina stressed that EJ’s dismissal was based on his shoddy record. EJ threatened to make Jada pay as he stormed out of the commissioner’s office.

When EJ returned home, he was shocked to see Arnold standing over an unconscious Rafe in the DiMera living room. After Jada called Rafe’s phone, Arnold answered the call. To avert suspicion, Arnold went to the pub to meet up with Jada. Jada immediately noticed that “Rafe” had changed his clothes, but Arnold managed to calm her suspicions. While Arnold was with Jada, EJ stashed Rafe in the tunnels.

Belle was suspicious when EJ exited the tunnels, but he played it off. EJ explained that he had finally secured a construction crew to repair the damage from the bomb blast in the wine cellar. EJ invited Belle to be his date for Johnny and Chanel’s DiMera NYE party. At the party, Belle only allowed a chaste kiss from EJ at midnight. When Arnold attended the party with Jada, a worried EJ reminded Arnold not to kiss Jada. EJ argued that Jada could not provide consent because she believed that Arnold was Rafe.

Johnny invited Gabi and JJ to attend the party, but Gabi was reluctant to return to her former home with Stefan. Ultimately, Gabi agreed that she wanted to attend the party to annoy EJ. Stephanie asked Philip to be her plus one at the party, while her ex Alex attended with Joy. At midnight, Philip kissed Stephanie. Though Stephanie’s eyes were closed, Philip’s eyes were open and staring at Alex the whole time.

Alex’s date Joy had slipped upstairs with Johnny to argue about their history. Chanel overheard Johnny and Joy argue, and Johnny was forced to tell Chanel the full story about his night with Joy. Johnny told Chanel that he and Joy had stopped before they had sex. Though Chanel believed Johnny, she refused to forgive him. Chanel moved out that night, and she told Paulina the whole story in the morning. Johnny ran into Abe at the office, and he explained what had happened and why. Abe counseled Johnny to give Chanel time and not assume the marriage was over.

After the party, Stephanie admitted to Philip that she was having a hard time moving on from Alex. In an effort to move on, Stephanie and Philip spent the night together. In the morning, Stephanie had a sex dream about Alex. With Philip’s prompting, Stephanie admitted that she was not fully over Alex. Philip wanted to end things, but Stephanie reminded him that they both wanted to get over their exes, but that it would take time.

When Alex took Joy home after the party, Alex kissed Joy. Alex apologized for having taken advantage of Joy in a vulnerable state. Joy disagreed, and she kissed Alex and asked him to stay the night. The morning after was awkward, but Alex and Joy talked things through. Alex admitted he was not over Stephanie, but that they were incompatible. When Joy worried about working with Chanel, Alex reminded Joy that Johnny had been the married one, not Joy. Alex encouraged Joy to stand her ground.

Gabi told JJ that she was interested in dating him. When JJ escorted Gabi home, she asked him to stay the night. In the morning, Javi cooked Gabi and JJ pancakes. Gabi asked Javi if he was weakening and interested in reuniting with Leo. Javi avoided the question and hurried out the door to avoid answering his cousin.

In an effort to get Arnold away from Jada, EJ made up a lie about Rafe needing to leave town for Black Patch. Arnold said goodbye to Jada, and he pretended to leave for a top secret mission. EJ started to needle Jada about her efforts to remove him from his job, and he asked about the incoming DA. Belle informed EJ that she was his replacement.
