Days of our Lives summary for the week of December 23, 2024

Jada offered JJ a job if he stayed in town, and he promised to think about the opportunity. Thanks to Javi’s interference, Gabi and JJ went on a date together at the Little Bar. Shawn offered to be partners with JJ if he decided to take the detective job. JJ decided to take the job with the police so that he could keep an eye on Doug III. Leo sold Alice’s necklace for Doug III, but the money did not cover Doug III’s debt.

Rafe captured Hattie, but she denied she had stolen secrets or poisoned cupcakes. When Rafe turned Hattie over to the police, Belle put a stop to the interrogation. Furious that Jada had lost her opportunity to question Hattie, she lashed out at Rafe. Rafe was concerned about how his new job affected his relationship, so he talked to Steve about quitting. Steve made Rafe realize how much he loved his job at Black Patch, and he decided to stay. Jada defended Rafe to the mayor, and she refused to ask Rafe to give up his PI job. Rafe and Jada agreed to work together to keep their jobs from interfering in their relationship. Eager to wed, Jada and Rafe decided to get married at the end of January on Rafe’s birthday.

EJ asked Kristen for help to punish Belle for her interference in Mark Greene’s case. Kristen laughed off her brother, and she told him he was on his own. Before EJ could argue with Kristen, Brady walked in and accused Kristen of ruining his date. Kristen denied the charge. When Brady returned home and told Ava that Kristen had denied the accusation, Ava got another threatening anonymous text telling her to stay away from Brady. Ava asked Steve to track down the culprit, and Steve traced the source of the phone messages to the DiMera mansion. Though Ava believed Kristen was to blame, the real texter was Rachel.

Stephanie admitted to Kayla that she was hurt that Alex had moved on. When Stephanie told Kayla about her kiss with Philip, Kayla cautioned Stephanie to remember how badly her last romance with Philip had ended. Philip gloated to Alex about his kiss with Stephanie. Alex refused to take the bait, and he wished Philip well with whomever he dated. Philip asked Stephanie to be his date for New Year’s Eve, and she accepted.

Rafe’s old doppelganger, Arnold Feniger, returned to Salem to shake EJ down for money. EJ ordered Arnold to return to Argentina before anyone discovered that Arnold had survived his stabbing in prison. Arnold refused to leave town, and he urged EJ to make use of him. Johnny saw Arnold in the living room, but EJ convinced him that Rafe was there to work on a case. EJ warned Arnold to leave town or else he would face a prison sentence. Arnold threatened to drag EJ down with him if EJ turned him in. At the police station, Jada worked to have Paulina appoint Belle as DA in place of EJ.

Sophia made an appointment at a clinic out of state for an abortion, and Tate made plans to travel with her. Tate had to decline Holly’s Christmas gift of concert tickets because the night clashed with his trip out of town with Sophia. Tate and Holly told one another “I love you” at a private birthday party he threw for her at the pub. Holly offered the concert tickets to Doug III, and he asked her to go with him. When Holly went to talk to Tate about the situation, she found him leaving town with Sophia.

For Christmas, Chad took the kids to Orlando for a theme park vacation. Tripp and Wendy got engaged. Julie insisted that Doug III stay with her rent-free. Shawn gave Maggie a framed photo of her with Victor. Xander gifted Sarah a pair of red shoes as an homage to the red shoes that Mickey had given Maggie after she had recovered the ability to walk.

The Horton family decorated the tree with the family ornaments. Julie lamented that she did not have an ornament for Doug III. Though Doug noted he was not technically a Horton, Julie insisted he was a part of the Horton family and deserved an ornament. JJ asked Doug about his time in jail, and Doug confirmed he had been in a bar fight after he had learned of his grandfather’s death. JJ lead the singing in place of Doug at the Horton celebration. Xander and Jack made up with one another.

The Carver-Price household celebrated Christmas and Jules and Carver’s birthdays. Lani was disappointed that the grandparents continued to disregard her pleas not to spoil her children. Paulina gave Abe a collection of books about various soap operas, and Abe gave Paulina a bracelet with the birthstones of all the people in the Price family.

Brady comforted Marlena while John was away. He gave her his mom’s locket. When Brady told Marlena that Kristen had forbidden him from seeing Rachel, Marlena advised him to stay patient. Brady then told Marlena about his new relationship with Ava. Although Marlena pointed out that Brady tended to date dangerous women, she did not discourage his new relationship. On Christmas Eve, John sent Marlena a cake with strawberries and whipped cream.

Rachel complained to Kristen that she had not reunited the family for Christmas, and Kristen admitted to Rachel that she had been wrong to blackmail Brady. Rachel confessed that she had overheard Kristen talk to Stefano’s portrait about getting rid of Ava. Lani visited Kristen and advised her not to keep Rachel from her father on Christmas. Kristen took her friend’s words to heart, and she invited Brady to spend Christmas with his daughter at the DiMera mansion.

Roman was going to serve as Santa for the children’s Christmas party at the hospital until he suffered an allergic reaction to the suit. Paulina did the reading of the Christmas story and Abe stepped in to serve as Santa.
