Salem held a memorial service for Doug Williams. Friends and family attended the service, including out-of-town visitors Liz Chandler, Marie Horton, Julie’s brother Steven Olsen, Ciara, and Shawn. Liz Chandler led a sing-along of Doug’s favorite song, “Always.” Julie gave a beautiful eulogy about Doug’s life and their love story.
Ciara opened the time capsule and the family looked at the family mementos inside. The contents included a lock of Marie’s hair, baby shoes for Mickey and Addie, and a diamond necklace that Addie had once given to Alice. Julie was pleased to see a box “of the days of our lives.”
After the funeral, Julie met a man named Doug Williams, who claimed to be Doug’s grandson. Unseen by anyone, new Doug stole Alice’s diamond necklace from the time capsule. Based on Steven Olsen’s past, Lucas accused him of having stolen the necklace. A changed man, Steven decided to avoid conflict and leave town. Julie invited new Doug to move into the Horton house. Hope arrived in Salem after Bo failed to wake up. Suspicious of the new occupant, Hope cautioned Jennifer to keep her eye on Doug because Hope did not believe he was her father’s real grandson.
Shawn and Belle agreed that although they loved one another, their marriage was over. The couple agreed to get a divorce. Marlena attempted to cheer up a heartbroken Belle with ice cream and a movie. Shawn ran into Philip at the pub, and he told Philip that he supported his claim to Titan. Xander attempted to sway Stephanie to his side, but she refused to drop Philip as a client. Xander accused Stephanie of being a golddigger.

Chad, Cat, JJ, and Gabi traveled to Vancouver based on Clyde’s instructions. JJ and Gabi posed as Mr. and Mrs. DiMera, and they shared a bed while waiting for Clyde to contact them in the morning. Paulina, Lani, and Chanel had a spa night together at home for Lani’s last night in town. Lani visited the grave of her first son before she left Salem.

Joy went to Alex’s apartment to say goodbye and tell him that she was quitting Body & Soul. Alex was livid when he learned about EJ’s bribe, and he attempted to persuade Joy to reject EJ’s offer. Joy decided the best option for everyone was to take the money and run. Johnny was furious to hear about EJ’s plan to bribe Joy. Alex confronted Johnny about the push to make Joy quit the TV show and leave town.
