At home, Paulina caught Abe eating chips while they were waiting for the kids’ delayed flight to get them home for Thanksgiving dinner. Lani Eli and the kids came in.

Abe put the twins to bed, and Lani went to help. Alone with Eli, Paulina suggests that they should all live closer together. Paulina offers for Eli and Lani to return to the Salem PD. Paulina added that Rafe quit and pitched how great it would be for Eli and Lani to be working together again.

Lani and Abe returned to the living room. Unaware of Paulina and Eli’s conversation, Abe suggests that Lani join Body and Soul, playing a cop instead of being one. Paulina suggested that Lani play Faith’s sister. Lani explained that she just took on a part-time job at the kids’ preschool. Eli told Paulina and Abe that they always planned to move back to Salem one day, but they weren’t going to yet. Eli went to visit Julie and Doug. Paulina recalled what a difference a year had made since the last Thanksgiving.

JJ came over and told Gabi he needed some help. He told Gabi the play to be a decoy couple and asked her to do it with him. He said they would need to check into the hotel so Cat and Chad could bait Clyde.

JJ admitted they would be sitting ducks, but as a former cop, he promised to protect Gabi and told her there was no pressure for her to decide what she wanted to do. Gabi said Clyde terrorized her in prison and had a hand in ruining her marriage and her life. “But all that makes it easier to decide. I’m not going to let him get away with this. So yes, I’m in,” Gabi told JJ.

Julie told Chad she was grateful to have a moment alone with him and asked why Abigail’s imposter was living under their roof. Chad said he knew Julie was upset, but it was hard to explain. Julie said the Horton house was always open to everyone, but she refused to break bread with her. Chad assured Julie that Cat would stay upstairs and that what he was doing was for Abigail.

Chad explained that he wanted to protect Julie because she was worried about Doug. “Doug is fine. Please tell me what the hell is going on,” Julie implored. Chad admitted that Clyde called and wanted Cat. He added that he couldn’t just hand her over to be murdered. Julie still didn’t understand why Cat had to be there. Chad told Julie he was using Cat as bait, but JJ would help him with his plan.

After Chad left to ensure Cat wasn’t being seen, Hope called Julie to say happy Thanksgiving. They got caught up on Shawn and Bo. Julie updated Hope that Doug got up early and dressed the turkey. She added that Doug was resting and got emotional, telling Hope how much they missed her.

In the other room, Cat was on the phone with Aaron. She wished she could spend Thanksgiving with him and Felicity, but it was safer that she didn’t. Jack and Jennifer walked in as she told him that no one should be paying for her sins. Cat quickly got off the phone.

Jennifer told Cat hers was not the face she wanted to see when she walked through the door. Cat wanted to tell them how sorry she was and explained she was supposed to be upstairs, out of sight, before they got there. Before she could finish her apology, Jen slapped her across the face.

Jennifer raged that everyone had been through hell because of Cat’s lies. She said she knew from looking in her eyes that she was not her dead daughter. Jennifer said if Cat had any self-respect, she would walk through the door and never return.

Cat implored Jennifer not to kick her out and tried to explain that if there was a chance that her mother was alive, she was the only one who could help her. Chad interrupted and tried to diffuse the emotions. He explained that they needed Cat’s help to get Abigail’s body. Jennifer said Cat would be in jail if she cared about what she did. Jack and Jen left to see Chad’s kids.

Chad got a call from Clyde. He got an address from him and wrote it down. Chad made sure Clyde knew he wouldn’t be handing over Cat until he got the info about Abigail. As he started to tell Cat the plan, Jack and Jennifer returned and heard that Clyde called. He briefly told them about the plan and that he had backup.

JJ arrived, and Chad told everyone that he had just gotten a time and place to meet with Clyde, who wanted to meet that same day. JJ told Chad that Gabi was going to help. Jack and Jennifer realized that JJ was the backup. “We’re going along as decoys,” JJ told him. “No, you’re not. I already lost one child to that monster, and I am not going to let you get caught in Clyde’s crosshairs. We need you. And your kids need you!” Jennifer said to JJ and Chad. She told them to send Cat, but Chad and JJ were not going.

JJ said that he was going. Jennifer wanted to know where Abigail’s body was, too, but she was gone, and JJ was alive. She begged him not to go. Julie came and realized something was going on. “What have you done now?“ she asked Cat. Chad quickly explained why they had to leave and promised to return safely. JJ assured them they would be safe. “You better pray that they both come back safely to us or Clyde won’t be the only one I hold responsible,” Jennifer seethed to Cat.

After Chad, JJ, and Cat left, Julie said they needed to put on a brave face for the grandkids. Jennifer went to get the kids wrangled up for dinner, and Julie asked Jack to go upstairs and get Doug up from his nap as it was time to do the blessing and carve the turkey.

JJ went upstairs, and Eli came in. He brought cookies and hugged Julie, who said Jack went up to get Doug. She was about to get out her grandmother’s candlesticks for the table. Jennifer ran into Eli and told him that Chad and JJ had to go, but it was a long story.

In Horton Square, Chad stopped at the plaque of Tom and Alice and prayed that they would help him bring Abigail home safely. Cat arrived and apologized again. JJ and Gabi showed up. Gabi said she left a sinkful of dishes and didn’t tell Rafe what she was doing, as he would freak out if he knew what she was up to. She said she hated Clyde as much as they did and was glad to be a part of it. They all told Gabi that it meant a lot to them that she would help. Gabi noted that it wouldn’t be necessary if not for Cat. Cat assured her she got an earful at the Horton’s. “Wonders never cease. For once, Julie Williams and I see eye to eye,” Gabi said.

Upstairs, Jack went to rouse Doug but discovered he wasn’t breathing. He came downstairs somberly as Julie happily pulled out her grandmother’s candlesticks. Visibly shaken, Jack told Julie that he tried to wake up Doug but couldn’t. “Julie, I’m so sorry,” he said gently. “No!” Julie cried as a candlestick slipped from her hand and shattered on the floor. As the reality that she had just lost Doug sunk in, Julie gasped, “Oh my god,” as Jack held her.
