Jada walked into Rafe’s office and found him with his feet on the desk, smoking a cigar. “I see you’re making yourself at home,” she growled. She was mad that he’d stolen his job from her and had to find out from Shawn. “Rafe” told her that “if” EJ was framing her, he was doing a hell of a job. He said that right or wrong, EJ won, so they should just accept what happened and move on with their lives. Jada snapped that if he thought she would do nothing after EJ took her job and her reputation away from her, then he’d lost his mind.
“Rafe” told Jada that after the scandal died down, he’d convince the mayor to hire her as a detective and work for him. “When that happens, we can go back to the way things were. Both professionally and personally,” he said as he tried to kiss her. Jada slapped him hard and told him to screw himself. “Were you really that insecure that you’d align yourself with EJ to take me down?” she asked. Jada said she could see Rafe for who he really was: a vile, chauvinistic pig who was threatened by a Black woman in power. “It’s like you’re a completely different person than I thought you were,” Jada added. She told him to keep the job and threw her engagement ring at him.
Jada stormed out of Rafe’s office, upset. Shawn saw her, and she asked him to get her out of there, so he did. They went to the pub, where Jada drank shots and told Shawn all about her conversation with Rafe. Shawn agreed that sometimes you don’t know the people you love the way you thought you did. Shawn shared that Belle slept with EJ again. Shawn said Belle said it was a one-time thing, but Jada recalled seeing Belle at EJ’s and suggested he shouldn’t believe her.
In the pub, Kristen remembered discovering her mom was alive and was still in awe. Sarah interrupted her thoughts, wanting to ask how she was after Rachel’s disappearance. Sarah told her that she was grateful she was found and was safe. Kristen realized Sarah was still upset that she had used her paralysis to try to extort Xander’s birthright from him. Kristen called her a hypocrite, as Xander was as ruthless as she was and would have done the same thing.

Kristen and Sarah argued about Xander’s lack of character until Sarah shot back that Brady was with Ava instead of her. Kristen suggested that Sarah was more like Xander than she thought. She poked jabs about Xander having to share his toys at Titan with Phillip. Sarah decided it was time to go, leaving Kristen to wonder what was up with Sarah.
Once alone, Kristen tried calling Aremid's phone, but no one answered. She wondered why and wanted to be sure everything was under control with Ava.
EJ couldn’t believe it when he found Ava strapped to a chair and asked how she got there. She told him it was his daughter, but she had some help. In walked the woman in white, and Ava introduced her as Rachel Blake, Kristen’s mother. EJ’s jaw dropped.
EJ questioned who Rachel Blake was and how she could still be alive. Ava filled in some blanks, like how Kristen knew her mom and Ava were there. EJ began to help release Ava, but Rachel Blake said he wouldn’t help her if he knew what was good for him.
Ava asked EJ not to listen to the crazy lady keeping her prisoner. Rachel Blake suggested EJ leave Ava unless he wanted her to know what really brought him there. EJ said nothing as Rachel Blake put the gag back on Ava, and they walked out of the room.
Rachel Blake told EJ to leave and never tell anyone about Ava, or she would tell the police about the brawny gentleman he had upstairs. EJ said he didn’t take kindly to threats. Rachel Blake reminded him about the repercussions on Kristen and Rachel as well. She said the scales of karmic retribution had been reversed as far as Ava was concerned.
EJ reluctantly agreed to keep his mouth shut to protect Rachel and Kristen, but only on the promise that Rachel Blake wouldn’t hurt Ava. She agreed, and they shook hands.
Belle was sitting on her bed sorting work files when Brady knocked. She said she was busy but then realized it was her brother, not Marlena. When she let him in, he questioned why she was too busy for her mom but not for him.
Belle downplayed Ava’s disappearance but could see Brady was concerned. She thought Steve was the right person to find her. She offered to put her work aside for the evening and distract him from worrying, even though she eye-rolled when she said he was fearing the worst about Ava. Brady questioned why Belle was sleeping with EJ.
Belle was aghast that he knew from Marlena. “Salem’s top shrink is now the town gossip? God, it’s none of her business!” she snapped. Brady reminded Belle that Marlena walked in on them. “It makes it kind of hard not to be her business after that,” he added. He wondered if EJ was a rebound but suggested she could have a one-night stand with someone who wasn’t her sister’s ex or the guy who tried to steal her brother’s baby.
Belle sarcastically agreed that EJ was terrible for her. She admitted that despite everything EJ had done, there was an attraction, and he was like a puzzle she needed to solve. “Oh god, this is worse than I thought,” Brady sighed.
Belle didn’t want Brady’s advice. She admitted there was something alluring about being with someone completely wrong for her; Brady could relate. Belle assured Brady that when it came to EJ, her eyes were wide open and not to worry.
Xander had Phillip worried about what he knew but then realized he was angry about a private investigator. Phillip said he could explain and showed him the report. It was about Kristen and Rolf, not Xander. Phillip understood why Xander jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Xander reviewed the dossier and saw Peter Blake’s name. He asked what the story was with him. Phillip told him how everyone believed Rachel Blake was killed in Paris years ago. They discussed how the DiMeras would double-cross one another but not break ranks.
Sarah came home and invited Phillip to stay for dinner, and Xander agreed. Alone, Phillip shared with Sarah that he and Xander had a breakthrough and were on their way to being great partners and maybe even brothers. Sarah told him about her conversation with Kristen and how she’d gotten into her head. She almost came home and told Xander the truth, but hearing him say he wanted Phillip to stay for dinner was huge.
While they waited for dinner, Xander told Phillip that Maggie suggested they make up the guest room for him as it was late. Xander took it a step further and said he’d been thinking a lot about family and acknowledged Phillip was his brother. He asked him to move back in.
Arnold called EJ, freaking out that Jada said he was like a different person, but he told him he would talk to him tomorrow and hung up on him. EJ walked into the DiMera living room and found Kristen there. She asked what was on his mind, noting he looked like he’d seen a ghost. “In a manner of speaking, I have,” EJ said. He told her they needed to talk about her mother.
Meanwhile, at Aremid, Rachel Blake took off Ava’s gag and told her that EJ wasn’t going to help her and that he had left.
