Holly paced nervously while she and Tate waited for their grades to be posted. They kissed happily when they saw that they got an A. Holly said she had to rush off and get to the stores before they closed. Tate assured her she was getting two presents — one for Christmas and one for her birthday on Christmas Eve. Holly was looking forward to their first Christmas together.
After Holly had left, Aaron stopped by, and Tate shared that they had received an A on their group project. They chatted, and Tate noted how happy he was with Holly. Aaron’s face turned serious, and he told Tate there was something he needed to tell him.
Aaron told Tate he was going to Vancouver with his sisters to see his mom and didn’t know when he’d be back. He appreciated what a good friend Tate had been, and Tate felt the same way. They told each other they were going to miss one another, and Tate hoped things worked out for Aaron.
At the Square, Holly ran into Leo. Holly said she was just getting started shopping and noted that with all his bags, Leo must be done. Leo told her that all his presents were for himself. Holly had only bought one present, and it was for Tate. She explained that it was their first Christmas together, and she wanted it to be really special.

Leo offered to hold onto the gift for her “secret” boyfriend, but Holly revealed that it wasn’t a secret anymore. She told him how they split up over the secret, and Tate was seeing Sophia. Leo felt bad that Tate called out Holly’s name while they were “in flagrante.” Holly said she and Tate were back together, and Leo told her he was super happy for her. “Just enjoy it while it lasts,” he added.
JJ came into Julie’s living room. She told him that she wasn’t upset that he missed Doug’s memorial, but she wasn’t happy that he’d gone away with Gabi.
JJ assured Julie that Gabi went above and beyond for him and Chad and even risked her life when Clyde took her hostage. Julie said that JJ reminded her of Doug, who always saw the good in people. “Just don’t ask me to tell you about the time that Gabi threw me down the stairs, hoping to break my neck,” Julie told him.
Julie knew they couldn’t find Abigail’s body, but she thought they had found a wonderful way to honor her memory. JJ emotionally agreed that the time capsule meant a lot. Julie told JJ that Alice’s diamond necklace had been stolen as New Doug walked in behind them.
Julie introduced JJ and New Doug. JJ offered to show New Doug around Salem but asked Julie to tell him more about the stolen necklace first.
Julie told JJ the story about Steven meeting Leo and the necklace going missing, so everyone assumed he was guilty. “Why else would he be around Leo if not to fence stolen jewelry? JJ asked. New Doug looked concerned.
New Doug offered to let JJ and Julie catch up and told JJ to call him tomorrow to go out. Once alone, JJ asked if Julie was going to call the police. She said she hadn’t, and it was just a piece of jewelry. Julie added that no matter how valuable the diamonds were, she couldn’t turn her brother over to the police. “He was my grandmother’s grandchild, too,” she noted. Julie said Steven was entitled to the necklace just as much as the rest of them were.
Julie knew she was making excuses for her brother. JJ received a text from Gabi that read, “I’d love to take you up on your invite. Would you like to grab a drink?”
Javi was happy to see Gabi and asked her about the trip. Gabi recapped everything that happened, including how Clyde grabbed her and held her at gunpoint. Javi noted that she and JJ seemed to care about one another.
Gabi blew it off, but Javi didn’t believe that she didn’t care about him. He wanted to know more about their history and if they were ever more than friends. Javi could tell he was onto something. Gabi admitted that she and JJ were more than something at one point.
Gabi said that although she and JJ dated once, they were just friends. Javi baited her by romanticizing their trip to Vancouver. “There was gunplay. Your lives were at risk,” he said. He noted that their adrenaline must have been flowing. Gabi accidentally let it slip that she and JJ shared a hotel room. Javi asked about their sleeping arrangements. “We did share a bed together…just to sleep,” Gabi admitted. Javi said he knew she wished something had happened between her and JJ.
Gabi told Javi he assumed wrong. Javi wanted to see JJ’s picture, so she found one on her phone. Javi thought JJ was hot and asked what was stopping Gabi from getting her groove back.
Gabi noted that JJ had mentioned something about getting together once they were back in Salem. Javi grabbed her phone and texted JJ for her. “Oh no, what did you do?” she asked with a heavy sigh. She told him he was wrong about her and JJ because he hadn’t responded. “Give it a minute, he will,” Javi insisted. Just then, she got a text from JJ that read, “Sounds great. How about tonight?”
At Abigail’s grave, Chad apologized for not being able to bring her home. He heard leaves rustling and quickly turned around. Cat walked up and said she didn’t mean to interrupt, but she’d run into Jack and Jennifer in the Square, and they said she could find him there. Chad told her that they’d had an impromptu memorial for Abigail. Cat was glad they’d found a way to lay her to rest. Cat offered to leave, but Chad stopped her and said he was glad she was there.
Chad asked if she had any news. Cat didn’t but told him she saw Aaron and Felicity as herself. Cat admitted she’d also seen Mark, her other brother, who tried to kill him.
Cat told Chad that Mark was going to jail for 18 months. She planned to take Felicity and Aaron to Vancouver to see their mom, so she had been looking for Chad to say goodbye. Cat was grateful to be back with her family for a while, especially after pretending to be with Chad and his family for so long.
Chad told Cat he was happy for her. He said that after seeing them in Vancouver, he had realized what she had been through for the last few months. He was glad that most of them were okay. Cat thanked him and apologized again for everything that happened. “You did what you had to do. Clyde didn’t really give you a choice,” Chad noted. Cat said regardless, she wished she could take all of it back. Cat wished she could say, “See you around,” but knew that wasn’t going to happen. “So, bye,” she told him and left.
Chad went back to talking to Abigail at her gravesite. “Wherever you are, I love you,” Chad said. He told Abigail goodnight and walked away.
Cat paced, recalling telling Chad that she cared about him. Aaron interrupted her thoughts and asked if she was okay. She said she was and it was time to go to the airport.
Holly wondered why Leo would think that she and Tate weren’t going to last. “Most fairy tales don’t, Princess,” he stated. Leo recounted a story to Holly of being with Javi and having an amazing date and sex three times, and it was all an illusion. He admitted he’d accused him of being Lady Whistleblower, and now they were through. “I hope the same thing doesn’t happen to you,” Leo concluded.
“So your advice is to not accuse Tate of being Lady Whistleblower? Got it,” Holly quipped. Leo said that his experience as a soap writer told him not to be naive and blissfully ignorant and to miss the impending doom that all love brings. Leo told her Tate was a lucky guy, and he hoped they made it. “Anyway, Merry Christmas! “ Leo said before leaving Holly, looking concerned.
Leo went home and was going through his purchases when New Doug knocked on his door. He told Leo he was someone who needed help selling something and showed him the stolen necklace.
Holly called Tate and told him that she’d run into Leo. She said they talked for a bit, and Leo was a funny guy. When Tate hung up, there was a knock at the door. He was surprised to see Sophia at his door. She told him that they needed to talk, and so he invited her inside. “What’s going on?” he asked. “I’m pregnant,” Sophia told him.
