At the Salem Inn, Leo and Bonnie read a new Lady Whistleblower column online. “I thought you were Lady Whistleblower?” Bonnie said. “So did I,” Leo countered. The column detailed spoilers for Body & Soul. Bonnie held Leo’s hand as he fought off a panic attack. “My story is ruined! Completely ruined!” Leo yelled. Leo wondered aloud how the story could have slipped out.
“So what? Some people know what’s going to happen on the show,” Bonnie said. Bonnie noted that when she watched reality TV, she always knew what was going to happen but that it was still a thrill to see it unfold. Leo argued that reality TV was different from scripted TV. “The reward for watching is the surprise!” Leo yelled. “Some people like spoilers,” Bonnie said. Leo screamed that he hated spoilers.
“Maybe it was someone in the cast,” Leo said. “Don’t look at me! I didn’t tell anyone anything,” Bonnie protested. Bonnie confessed that she had told Justin about the story but that Justin would not have told anyone. As Leo continued to read through the gossip column, it mentioned the storyline that he had dreamed about on Halloween. “Oh, come on. How could this mystery gossip columnist possibly know what you’re dreaming?” Bonnie said. Leo explained that when he had awoken from his dream, he had typed the information into his laptop.
Leo thought about when he had caught Javi using his computer. “Oh my god,” Leo muttered. “What’s wrong?” Bonnie asked. Leo remembered he had told Javi over breakfast that all his plans for the show were on his laptop. “I bet your fans would kill to see what’s on there,” Javi had said. Leo screamed. “He wouldn’t!” Leo said. Bonnie grabbed Leo by the shoulders, and she asked him about the suspect.

Leo thought about when Javi had complained about his salary at Gabi Chic. “I need to find another gig to make ends meet,” Javi had said. “Another gig indeed,” Leo growled. Leo stormed out of his room.
In the Brady Pub, Roman was about to eat Kate’s cupcake when Kayla walked in. “That looks yummy! Is that a new addition to your dessert menu?” Kayla asked. Roman explained that the cupcake was a gift for the premiere of Body & Soul. “Who sent them?” Kayla asked. “I don’t know, but whoever did, I am very, very grateful,” Roman said. Roman finished the rest of his cupcake.
“Did you catch the episode?” Roman asked. “No, I actually slept at the hospital last night so I could monitor Sarah,” Kayla said. Kayla explained that she had been administered a treatment by Dr. Rolf to help Sarah walk again. “Is it safe?” Roman asked. Kayla noted that it was experimental, but Sarah and Xander had been willing to take the risks. Kayla said there had been no adverse reactions overnight.
Roman started to fidget as he stammered out that Sarah was in good hands with Kayla. Worried, Kayla pointed out, “You look greener and paler by the second.” Kayla felt Roman’s forehead, and she confirmed he was warm. Roman staggered to his feet, and he said, “I don’t feel good at all.” Roman ran to the bathroom.
In the DiMera living room, Chanel asked Johnny if he had spoken with Joy. Johnny confirmed that Joy was not annoyed at them but that she had been anxious to get home to prepare for work the next day. Chanel read through her scenes on her tablet as Johnny sat next to her, and she marveled at how much the new scenes connected to the first episode.
“What do you mean?” Johnny asked. “Well, if Arrow had just told the truth from the very beginning, then it just would have saved them both a lot of heartache,” Chanel said. Chanel argued that the cover-up had been worse than the crime. Johnny thought about when he had spent the night with Joy. Chanel asked Johnny if something was wrong. Johnny clutched his stomach, and he said no. As Chanel noted that Johnny appeared pale, he ran to the bathroom.
When a sweaty Johnny returned, Chanel asked if he was okay. “I must be coming down with something. Maybe some kind of stomach bug,” Johnny said. Chanel guided Johnny upstairs, and she tucked him into bed. Chanel offered Johnny crackers and ginger ale, but he refused to eat anything. Chanel insisted. “I don’t deserve you,” Johnny said. When Johnny noted that he had chills, Chanel climbed into bed with him. Johnny protested that Chanel should not expose herself to his germs, but she noted he was worth the risk. Johnny cuddled up to Chanel.
After a moment, Johnny stared into Chanel’s eyes and told her that he loved her. “You mean everything to me. Having you, I mean this, I just never want to lose it,” Johnny said. “Why would you think that you would lose it?” Chanel asked. Johnny noted that he was lucky to have Chanel in his life. Chanel assured Johnny that he would not lose her.
Alex was eating his cupcake when Joy knocked on his front door. Joy explained that she had been unable to reach Alex by phone. “Sorry to show up like this. But I got your address off the show’s contact list,” Joy said. Joy asked Alex if they could run lines together, and he invited her in. “Did you watch the show today?” Alex asked. Joy admitted she had watched the show with Chanel and Johnny. “That must have been tense,” Alex said. Joy twitched, and she asked Alex why he had said that. Alex mentioned the birthday party, and a relieved Joy nodded yes.
“Yeah, I heard all about that,” Joy said. Alex noted that if it had been his wife, he would have made sure that his wife had slept with someone before he accused her of it. “He’s lucky that didn’t cost him his marriage. Seriously, that’s how upset Chanel was that day,” Alex said. “I guess it was pretty bad, but when I was watching the show with them earlier, they seemed to be getting along just fine,” Joy said. Alex said he was relieved.
After Joy and Alex rehearsed a scene, they complimented one another. Alex admitted that he was also new to acting after his life professionally and romantically had fallen apart. “I just needed something new, you know?” Alex said. Alex admitted that he loved the job, and Joy said she did too. “Little advice, though. Don’t sleep with your co-workers,” Alex said. Joy forced a smile and nodded in agreement.
“Right! You hooked up with the show’s publicist,” Joy said. “Kind of messed that one up. Almost cost her her job,” Alex said. Joy joked that Hattie’s curse might be to blame. “I don’t know how much I believe in all that, any more than I believe that these lovely little cupcakes are poisoned,” Alex said. Alex took another bite of his cupcake. Joy asked Alex why he thought the cupcake had been poisoned.
“I didn’t. My stepmom was ready to call the CDC on everyone who got them from Body & Soul. She thinks it’s like Hattie’s revenge or something like that,” Alex explained. Alex noted that he felt fine.
At the hospital, Kayla was examining Roman in his room when Kate arrived. “It’s nothing. My little sister overreacted,” Roman stressed. “You got violently ill and almost lost consciousness,” Kayla countered. Kate gasped. When Kate asked if the illness was food poisoning, Roman noted that the only thing he had eaten had been Kate’s cupcake. Kate groaned.
“I just had to bring Abe home early from work because he ate a cupcake, and he got sick,” Kate said. “Don’t tell me we are dealing with tainted baked goods again,” Kayla muttered. Roman noted that he had eaten the evidence. Kayla asked about the source, and Roman admitted he did not know. Roman said he did not want to implicate Sweet Bits in another scandal, especially if Chanel’s bakery was not responsible for the tainted cupcakes. Kate announced that she would notify the cast and crew and check in at Sweet Bits to confirm it was not the source.
After Kayla took Roman’s blood for testing, he asked her if it was possible that someone had tampered with the cupcakes. “Well, it’s certainly possible. I just hope that anyone else who got one is okay,” Kayla said.
In Alex’s apartment, he and Joy continued to run lines. As Joy reached out to touch Alex, he stopped her. “Don’t touch me. I feel like I’m going to be sick,” Alex said. Alex ran to the bathroom.
In the town square, Kate spotted Bonnie, and she asked her if she had eaten a cupcake. “Sure didn’t,” Bonnie confirmed. “Good. Abe and Roman, they both ate one. They both got really, really sick,” Kate said. “I knew it! I suspected there was something up with those cupcakes,” Bonnie muttered. Bonnie said she had stopped Alex from eating one. As Bonnie groaned and complained about the awful day, Kate asked what else had happened. Bonnie told Kate about the Lady Whistleblower column.
Javi was working at Gabi's desk when she marched in. “Where the hell have you been?” Gabi snapped. “I might have been a teensy bit late, but I am here now, and I am making my A-list cousin and her blazing hot company look good,” Javi said. Gabi complained that she had been at work for hours without her coffee. Javi rolled his eyes.
“I’m sorry, but I did send you a text,” Javi said. Gabi read, “Something suddenly came up.” Gabi asked for specifics. Javi admitted that he had been with Leo. “Did I or did I not tell you to stay away from that guy?” Gabi said. “You’re not the boss of me,” Javi said. Gabi pointed out that she was, in fact, Javi’s boss. When Gabi reminded Javi that she had warned him about the Sonny incident, Javi admitted that it was the reason he had wanted to get to know Leo better.
“I spent the night in Leo Stark’s hotel room. And guess what? I had a really great time,” Javi said. Javi told Gabi that he liked Leo. “He’s funny, he’s interesting, he’s hot. He’s romantic,” Javi said. “Are we talking about the same Leo Stark?” Gabi said. Gabi warned Javi that Leo was a selfish creep. Javi disagreed. “You’re just setting yourself up for heartbreak,” Gabi said. When Gabi noted that she was only looking out for Javi, he crossed his arms.
“Are you?” Javi said. Javi argued that Gabi was projecting her heartbreak onto him. “You think I don’t want you to be happy because Stefan hurt me? You really think I’m that selfish?” Gabi asked. “No, but maybe you’re hurting so much that you’re worried that someone you care about is taking a risk because you’re down on love,” Javi said. Javi told Gabi that he understood why she might feel that way after what had happened with Stefan. After a moment, Gabi admitted that Javi might be right. Javi hugged Gabi as she teared up.
After a good cry, Javi handed Gabi a tissue. “I am so sorry that Stefan hurt you. But he is not worth your tears if he did not know how lucky he was to have you,” Javi said. “You’re just saying that to make me feel better. So keep it coming,” Gabi countered. Javi told Gabi that he was proud to be her cousin. “Right back at you, cousin. I’m sorry I gave you such a hard time about Leo,” Gabi said. Javi reiterated that he liked Leo, and he asked Gabi to stop trashing Leo in front of him.
“Fine. You’re a grown-ass man, capable of making your own life decisions,” Gabi conceded. Leo stomped into the room and asked to speak to Javi privately. Gabi announced that she needed to get to a meeting. “Just so you know, Leo, you mess with him, you mess with me,” Gabi said. Gabi left.
As Javi apologized for his cousin’s overprotectiveness, he attempted to kiss Leo hello. Leo pushed him away. “What’s wrong?” Javi asked. “I know what you did, Javi! And you’re not going to get away with this!” Leo yelled.
