At the cafe in the town square, Marlena, Cat, and Chad discussed the possible fundraiser for the hospital. Chad admitted that he had talked to Kristen about a donation from DiMera Enterprises, but he said he did not believe that the board would agree to fully bail out the hospital. “That’s understandable,” Marlena said. Marlena’s phone beeped, and she announced that she needed to head back to the office. Marlena encouraged Cat to stay behind and brainstorm ideas with Chad. Marlena walked off.

“Sorry. I didn’t know she was going to put you on the spot like that,” Cat said. “What do you mean?” Chad asked. Cat said she understood that she would be the last person that Chad would want to work with. “After everything that happened and everything I did to you, why would you ever want to team up with me again?” Cat asked. Chad assured Cat that he was fine.

“What you did to me and my family was hurtful. But you did it to save your mother. I understand,” Chad said. Chad told Cat that, in time, he would stop seeing her as the woman who had posed as his dead wife. With a sigh, Cat asked Chad if he was uncomfortable with her feelings for him. “Well, isn’t that more of a you problem?” Chad asked. “It doesn’t feel awkward for you?” Cat countered. Chad said no. Cat explained that she was working to move past her romantic feelings.

“So then it shouldn’t be a problem with us working with each other? And since it’s for a good cause, I think we should just go for it,” Chad said. Cat nodded in agreement. Chad took out a legal pad and suggested that they write down ideas. “You go to these things a lot?” Cat asked. Chad admitted he had gone to a number of boring events. “Rule number one for our fundraiser, make it fun,” Cat said. Chad suggested a family-friendly street fair. Cat talked about when her parents had taken everyone to the local fair, and Felicity had loved the dunk booth. Chad added the dunk booth to the list.

“Put the nurses and doctors in it,” Cat said. “Marlena would be the first one to sign up,” Chad said with a chuckle. Cat was surprised. “[Marlena] is the best sport I know. She is going to make jokes about how the pool should be filled with holy water. It’s going to be hilarious,” Chad said. Confused, Cat asked Chad what he meant. Chad mentioned that Marlena had been possessed by the devil. Cat’s smile disappeared. Chad told Cat about the two possessions, and he noted that Marlena had a good sense of humor about it.

“What if we made it a part of the street fair?” Chad said. Chad explained that they could dress Marlena in a devil costume in the dunk booth. Worried, Cat said she did not want to pitch the idea to her new boss, who had taken a chance on her. “Point taken,” Chad said. Cat added that she did not think it would be good PR for the hospital. With a chuckle, Chad admitted that his family had a strange sense of humor.

“We should be focused on all the service that Marlena has provided to the people of Salem over the years,” Chad said. “So no dunk tank for the doc,” Cat agreed. Cat asked Chad about the auctions he had been to in the past. “We can keep it fun with the items,” Cat said. Cat suggested dates for couples and bachelor/bachelorette auctions for singles. After Chad and Cat finished jotting down ideas, Chad suggested that they get together again to work on a plan. “See you soon, Cat,” Chad said. Cat smiled as Chad walked away.

At the hospital, Kayla visited Marlena in her office. Kayla admitted that she had no good news about the bankruptcy. “I may have some good news. My assistant may have a solution,” Marlena said. Marlena told Kayla about Cat’s plan to throw a benefit to drum up interest with the public. “Stephanie could help get the word out on this,” Kayla said. Marlena noted that Cat was working with Chad on ideas.

“I mean, Chad is determined and resourceful, but did you say they are brainstorming together?” Kayla asked. Marlena admitted that Cat and Chad’s history was complicated. “If I was Chad, I wouldn’t want to even be in the same space with her after what she did to him,” Kayla said. Marlena agreed that it was surprising. Marlena added that Cat wanted to make amends.

“I guess if Chad can forgive her, she deserves it,” Kayla said. Marlena thought about Cat’s confessions about her feelings for Chad and told Kayla that she hoped Chad wanted a friendship with Cat.

In the Hernandez kitchen, Arnold told Gabi that he did not want a lecture from his sister. “Why are you acting like a total jerk?” Gabi asked. “And why are you being such a pain in my ass? You’re my sister. You’re supposed to be on my side,” Arnold argued. Gabi countered that although Rafe was her brother, his cheating behavior had been sleazy. “So what if it was? You don’t have to be such a bitch about it,” Arnold muttered. Gabi appeared stricken.

“You don’t get to talk to me like that,” Gabi protested. Arnold reiterated his sentiment. Gabi bit her tongue and took a breath. “I’m trying really hard not to pick up a pan and bash you over the head with it,” Gabi said. “Right, which would just prove my point anyway,” Arnold said. Gabi told “Rafe” that she believed something was wrong with him. When Gabi explained that the coma might have altered Rafe’s personality, Arnold accused Gabi of being angry that he would not let her control him anymore.

“I never did that,” Gabi said. Gabi urged “Rafe” to go to the hospital for an MRI. Arnold refused. “I am not going anywhere with you, babe. No way,” Arnold said. Gabi pleaded with “Rafe” to see a doctor because she did not believe he was himself. “If the tests come back clean, I promise I’ll get off your back,” Gabi said. Arnold refused. Frustrated, Gabi ordered “Rafe” to go. When Gabi opened the front door to leave, Savannah, the sex worker, was on the front porch.

“I’m here for my date,” Savannah said as she walked over to Arnold. Gabi shook her head with disgust. “What is she doing here?” Gabi asked. Savannah announced that “Rafe” had called her. Gabi asked “Rafe” what he was doing, and Arnold said that as a man, he had needs. “And you need to fulfill them with the stripper from your bachelor party?” Gabi asked. Arnold reminded Gabi that Jada was not interested in him anymore. When Gabi argued that Rafe had betrayed Jada, Arnold argued that he had exposed a fraud.

“The point is, I am free to do whatever and whoever I want,” Arnold said. Savannah giggled as Arnold asked Gabi to leave. “I don’t know who you are, but I want my brother back!” Gabi yelled. Gabi stormed out. When Savannah noted that Gabi did not seem to be related to Arnold, he grinned. “Can I tell you a secret? She’s not my sister,” Arnold said. “Were you lying to me?” Savannah asked. Arnold lied and said he was adopted.

As Savannah whispered Rafe’s name, Arnold countered, “Call me Arnold.” Savannah asked why. Arnold explained that it had been his name before he had been adopted. “They changed your name?” Savannah asked. “They wanted me to be someone different,” Arnold said. Arnold said that he wanted to be Arnold. “Whatever floats your boat,” Savannah said. Arnold and Savannah danced back to the bedroom.

In the pub, Stephanie told Alex about an incident from years previous when Rafe had been replaced with a doppelganger named Arnold Feniger. “Who’s Arnold Feniger?” Alex asked. “He’s Rafe’s exact double,” Stephanie said. Stephanie explained that Arnold had been a creation of Stefano and EJ. “And now you think maybe this guy is back?” Alex asked. Stephanie confirmed that Arnold had been a creep but was also dead. Alex asked what had happened. Stephanie explained that some other prisoners had beaten Arnold to death.

“Well, this is Stefano and EJ we’re talking about. And Arnold was about to testify against them. He was about to tell the whole world that they hired him to impersonate Rafe,” Stephanie said. Stephanie noted that after Arnold had died, EJ had not been convicted. “Lucky guy, who just happens to be involved in all of this again?” Stephanie said. “And he was the one who hired Rafe to dig up dirt on Jada,” Alex added. With a nod, Stephanie noted that it had never made sense to her that Rafe would work for EJ or investigate Jada.

“Unless it wasn’t Rafe,” Alex said. “Because Arnold didn’t really die. It wouldn’t be the first time the DiMeras faked somebody’s death,” Stephanie added. With a shiver, Stephanie noted that the way Rafe had come on to her had felt just like Arnold had in the past. “What do we do?” Alex asked. Stephanie called Jada to tell her about her theory, but she reached her voicemail. Frustrated, Stephanie offered to go home to see if Jada was there.

Gabi stomped into the pub as Alex and Stephanie gathered their things to leave. Alex and Stephanie looked at one another and approached Gabi at the bar. “What’s going on?” Alex asked. Gabi told Alex and Stephanie about her ugly argument with Rafe. “This is not the Rafe that I know. My big brother has always been the sweetest, most loyal, loving person I have ever known. I don’t know how he could turn into this raging ass clown,” Gabi complained. Alex and Stephanie exchanged a look.

“We might know why,” Stephanie said. “Just a theory,” Alex said. Concerned, Gabi asked for details. Stephanie noted that she needed to find Jada but that Alex would tell Gabi about their theory. After Stephanie left, Alex told Gabi they believed Arnold Feniger had replaced Rafe. “It would explain a lot, wouldn’t it?” Alex said. “Yeah. It would explain everything that’s happened after the last few weeks,” Gabi agreed.

In Stephanie’s apartment, Jada and Shawn kissed on the couch and tore one another’s clothes off. After the two had sex, Shawn asked Jada if she was okay. “You were great. It was just a little strange,” Jada confessed. Jada admitted she was shocked that until a few days ago, she had believed she would have spent her life with Rafe. “Life doesn’t always work out the way we planned, right?” Shawn said. Jada agreed. Jada said that although she was done with Rafe, she still felt guilty. Shawn assured Jada she did not need to feel guilty about moving on, and Jada agreed.

“I want you to know that this has nothing to do with you. You’ve been a really great friend, listening to me and letting me lean on you,” Jada said as she snuggled up to Shawn. “And other things,” Shawn countered. Jada laughed. Shawn reminded Jada that he was also getting over a break-up. “I just know that I really like spending time with you,” Shawn said. Jada said she felt the same way.

When Jada returned to the living room after a shower, Shawn told her that someone had called her phone. While Shawn hopped in the shower, Stephanie returned home. “Rafe made a pass at me,” Stephanie started. Jada apologized, and she informed Stephanie that Rafe had also slept with the stripper from his bachelor party. “Now I know that I’m right,” Stephanie said. Jada asked Stephanie what she meant. “Rafe isn’t Rafe,” Stephanie said. Stephanie told Jada about Arnold.

“If I’m right and Arnold is still alive, EJ could be using him to pose as Rafe again,” Stephanie said. “Oh my god. Do you think that’s possible?” Jada asked. With a shrug, Stephanie noted that it was just a theory but that she wanted to investigate it. “And if it is true, that means that it wasn’t Rafe who left you at the altar. It wasn’t Rafe who cheated on you,” Stephanie said. Shawn walked out in a towel, and Stephanie’s jaw dropped open.
