Rafe and Shawn talked about Shawn’s affair with Jada. Shawn stressed that it had been a one-night stand and that Jada loved Rafe. Rafe saw Jada’s blouse while Shawn was in the other room, and he jumped to the wrong conclusion. Shawn informed Jada about Rafe’s visit and his abrupt departure. Stephanie urged Jada to reach out to Rafe to meet.

Johnny told Sami that Rafe had helped him realize that he should not blame Sami for his anger over EJ. Sami told Kate she did not blame her for having told Johnny the truth. Sami then went to see Rafe and thanked him for helping Johnny. When Sami asked Rafe’s opinion about whether Johnny had been the shooter, Rafe said no.

Rafe told Sami about Arnold’s recent visit, and she apologized for EJ’s behavior. Sami advised Rafe to forgive Jada, but Rafe said he was no longer interested in Jada because she had continued her affair with Shawn. After Sami told Rafe that she wished she had not let him go because he had been her only healthy relationship, Rafe kissed Sami. In the morning, Javi walked in on them in bed. Sami counseled Javi to be careful of Leo.

Rafe met up with Jada, and he accused her of having slept with Shawn again. Jada set Rafe straight. Rafe told Jada that he believed her. Reluctantly, Rafe confessed that he had slept with Sami after he had seen Jada’s blouse at Shawn’s house. Heartbroken, Jada said she needed space.

Roman told Kate that Rex was concerned that she had shot EJ. Kate denied the accusation. Roman said he was certain that she had not shot EJ, but he did not say why. When Sami told Kate that Jada had slept with Shawn, Kate theorized that Rafe had shot EJ.

Before Sami left town, Rafe told Sami that he had been mistaken about Jada. Sami encouraged Rafe to take the time to determine what he wanted. Sami told Rafe that if he wanted to be with Jada, he needed to fight for her.

The ballistics report cleared Kristen’s gun as the weapon in EJ’s shooting. Kristen rushed over to DiMera Enterprises to fight for her company. After Xander fired Melinda, Kristen held Xander at gunpoint. Kristen demanded that Xander put her back in charge of DiMera. Xander called Kristen’s bluff. Kristen vowed to destroy him.

JJ questioned Gabi about her alibi for EJ’s shooting, and she said she had been at home. JJ reminded Gabi that he had run into her in the square. Gabi said she had forgotten that she went to get her planner from the town square. Gabi did not tell JJ that she had been at the DiMera mansion the night of EJ’s shooting. Gabi told JJ she would only speak to him through her lawyer.

When Vivian continued to badger Philp, he forced her to move out. Furious, Vivian confessed to Xander that she had forged Victor’s letter. When Xander argued that Vivian’s admission did not make sense, she explained that Philip had failed to deliver on his promise to pay her. Vivian said she wanted Philip to lose everything because of his betrayal..

Sarah told Maggie about why Philip was beholden to Vivian. Maggie said she believed that Victor would have wanted Philip in the will if he could have admitted that Philip was alive. Maggie said that Victor would have liked that his sons were working together, and she discouraged Sarah from telling Xander the truth.

Stephanie confided in her mother about the guilt she had over a secret. Kayla advised Stephanie to follow her conscience. When Stephanie attempted to give Alex the go-ahead to tell Xander the truth, Alex declined. Alex said he wanted to keep the family stable.

Philip attempted to convince Alex that his scheme had been good for the family and that Victor would agree. Alex agreed to continue to keep the secret to protect Xander, the family, and the business. Alex promised to expose Philip one day, and he cautioned Philip to come clean first.

On Philip’s way home, Vivian gleefully told him that Xander knew the truth about the forgery. Xander confronted Philip, and Philip admitted it and explained why. Philip did not implicate anyone else in his scheme except Vivian, but Sarah watched in silence as the scene unfolded in front of her. Xander told Philip that Philip had made him feel like he belonged to the family, and Philip said that Xander did belong and that he had enjoyed working with him. Xander threw Philip out.

Gabi hired Melinda as her defense attorney. When Melinda informed JJ of the news, he and Shawn questioned her about her gun that had been found in the park. Melinda confirmed that she had loaned the gun to Ava.

Gabi almost heard Vivian talk on the phone about what she had done to separate Stefan from Gabi. When Vivian confirmed that Gabi had not heard the confession, she promised Gabi that she no longer needed to exact revenge on her. On the way out of town, Vivian and Sami ran into one another on the way to the airport.

Steve and Marlena snuck into the hospital to question Orpheus. Orpheus agreed to help, but he demanded that Marlena help his son, Christian, with child custody issues. Marlena agreed. Orpheus explained that Rosebud was code for an arms exchange in Latvia. The ISA ordered Steve and Marlena to go home. Steve agreed. Marlena told Steve that she would follow his lead.

Marlena noticed a note that Orpheus had tucked into her purse about a private meeting. Marlena went back to the hospital, and Orpheus asked her to break him out so that he could take her to John. Marlena refused. Steve popped into the room to explain that they had decrypted the files and that they knew that Orpheus had lied about Rosebud. As Orpheus pleaded with Marlena to listen to him or risk losing John, Marlena walked out with Steve.
