Days of our Lives star Kyle Lowder has a new gig that could also be an old one.

Kyle Lowder, who last appeared as Days of our Lives' Rex Brady in late 2023, headed to work on August 12, dropping hints that he could bring Rex back to Salem.

"I'm back at a very familiar place today. And tomorrow. And the next day," Lowder said in a video posted to his Instagram stories. "I'll give you a hint. I'm in Burbank. At a studio. Been doing this a long time, but it's been a minute. I'm excited. The cat will be out of the bag soon. All right. Here we go."

Since DAYS tapes at a studio in Burbank, fans quickly got excited at the idea of a Rex return and shared the video on X (formerly Twitter). Some fans wondered if he'd once again be a spoiler for Sarah and Xander, who wed again last week.

When we last saw Rex in 2023, he was helping Sarah convince Xander that the baby she had just given birth to was his and not Xander's. Sarah and Rex were even married for a hot minute until Xander learned of their lies. When the truth came out, Rex left town to head back to Chicago, but he's always just a plane ride away.

Lowder began his DAYS tenure back in 2000 as Brady Black and played the role until 2005. He returned to the soap in 2018 as Roman and Kate's son, Rex, who was originally played by Eric Winters from 2002 to 2005.

In between DAYS stints, Lowder was a regular on The Bold and the Beautiful, playing Eric and Brooke's son, Rick Forrester, from 2007 to 2011.

As Rex's story wrapped last year, Lowder announced a bit of a career change when he became a news anchor for the CBS affiliate KTVN in Reno, Nevada. Lowder explained to Soap Opera Digest that his daughter with ex-wife and former co-star Arianne Zucker (ex-Nicole Walker) had helped prompt his decision to switch gears.

Zucker and her fianc, Shawn Christian, had moved to Lake Tahoe with Lowder and Zucker's daughter, Isabella. He wanted to be closer to her. However, he knew he had to find work.

"I thought, 'Well, there's a television industry in Reno. There's the network affiliates, CBS, NBC, Fox, and ABC, so let me just reach out and see,'" he said. "I had my resume and I wrote a cover letter and I was very honest and transparent and very vulnerable, respectfully asking if they had any on-camera opportunities available. I finished the letter by saying that I recognized that I do not have any broadcast journalism or newscaster experience. However, I've spent the past 23 years of my career telling stories to an audience, whether scripted or improvised, and I'm very comfortable in front of the camera. I said, 'I make no presumptions. I know what this looks like, a Hollywood actor that thinks he could just come in and be a newscaster.'"

Thankfully for Lowder, he got offers from both the ABC and CBS stations in the region and chose CBS.

If Lowder is returning to DAYS, does that mean he will be performing double duty for a while, or is it just a brief Salem stay?
