Peter Porte exits DAYS as Dimitri Von Leuschner

Days of our Lives has confirmed that Peter Porte's run as Dimitri Von Leuschner, a role he originated on Beyond Salem, has come to an end.

A representative for Days of our Lives has confirmed that Peter Porte has wrapped up his run as Dimitri Von Leuschner, the only son of Megan Hathaway (Miranda Wilson) and the oldest grandchild of Stefano DiMera.

Porte originated the role in 2021 on the Days of our Lives spinoff Beyond Salem, and he brought the character back for DAYS on a contract basis in May 2023. Unfortunately, things came to an end for Dimitri on December 12, when he was shipped off to a supermax prison. But let's be real: when has a supermax prison ever been able to contain a DiMera?!

In an interview with Soap Opera Digest back in May, Porte admitted that he had never expected Dimitri to get a second life on the main show. "I thought they were throwing me in for another episode and then they offered the contract and I was shocked," the actor said. He went on to reveal that he had always wanted to return because doing DAYS was the closest to live theater that was available on the West Coast. He acknowledged that he'd been fortunate to work with a writing team that was talented and cared about the characters. Porte had nothing but praise for the people that he'd been paired with on the show. "The cast that I've had the privilege of working with has perhaps been my favorite experience so far," the actor said.

Porte is no stranger to daytime television. He played Ricky Williams on The Young and the Restless in 2011. He also appeared in the Netflix comedy series Uncoupled opposite Neil Patrick Harris. His primetime credits include Cold Case, CSI: Miami, Medium, and Devious Maids. Additionally, he toured with the Broadway National Touring Company of Mama Mia! and has starred in two Hallmark movies: Love at the Shore and Rome in Love.

In 2020, Porte starred as one of the gay leads in the landmark production of Dashing in December, which was one of the first LGBTQ+ centered Christmas romance movies produced for mainstream television.
